No Dealer Markup What did you pay for 2022 Kia Stinger GT2 AWD !!

If they made the Scorpion the default GT2 trim they'd be moving more GT2 overall.

Yes, I read the thread title but my experience might be of use.

I'm taking delivery of a 2022 Stinger GT1 in a few days, paid MSRP. Our son lives in Albuquerque and says that the local dealer are asking $10,000 over sticker. Robbers. Don

I wanted a 2022 GT2 AWD in a specific color combination. I called all 4 dealers that had one within 1000 miles of my home. Two were professional and gave slight discounts without much hassle, one was downright fraudulent, and the last incompetent.

I ended up getting a $2k dealer discount off MSRP, and then I chose the 0% APR offer from Kia. I could have taken the $1500 cash offer from Kia if I paid cash or financed privately for $3500 total off MSRP. Luckily this particular dealer has low doc fees and doesn't add those pre-installed accessories nobody wants, so that was a nice bonus. The bad part is this dealer is the farthest away, nearly 800 miles! Time for a road trip.

^^It can be challenging to choose which option to go with. Sometimes that 0% without the rebate is actually the better value over the term. I think the rebate option is best for those that plan on paying off the loan immediately/short term and just want a lower otd price.

Usually the $1000/1500 rebate requires financing at standard rates.

Check this out... fly to SLC for a Stinger?

Looks like it's expired now, but I bet they're still dealing... 15 Stingers in stock as of this morning:

I'm flying 800 miles for less. Sounds like a deal.

Good morning all,
Here in Salt Lake City, Utah,
I bought the scorpion package w/awd and msrp was 57055 and after the Kia incentive and some negotiation I payed 53050.

Looks like their promo paid off... they had 15 Stingers on Friday, this morning only 6!

Did you buy your Scorpion from Jerry Seiner in South Jordan, or another SLC Kia dealer?

Just bought a 22 GT2 AWD from Lawrence Kia in Lawrence Kansas. Did a lease, final price after doc fee ($500) and acquisition ($650) was $47,295 on a $54,690 MSRP. Not quite a strong as my 2021, but Carmax bought my 2021 for more than I paid for the 2022!

Lawrence was super easy to work with and has at least a few more GT2’s for similar money If anybody is interested.

42285 MSRP plus Ceramic Coating and Door Fender Guards... 1995.00 markup over and had to pay it.. they wouldn't budge on a GT-line AWD which are nearly impossible to find. Everyone has AWD GT2 or RWD Gt-line... AWD Gt-line... nearly impossible and they know it. This is in October 2022... shortages and demand is high.

There is a chain in NH which are adding an $8K to $10K "market adjustment" charge to them. The local dealer is not, but they have informed me that if I want my car in January, that I will probably need to order in October; if I order now, the dealer wouldn't get my car in until October. So... it looks like I'm ordering the car in the next couple of months instead of waiting.
yep , im sure its dan obrian kia , worst dealership for sales i have ever dealt with

Did you get your new stinger yet?

Got my new GT2 2022 AWG Panther Metal with Red interior for about 65K in CA, original price from Capitol KIA. Dealers originally wanted 10K over, I said hell no.

I put in an order for a new one at Capitol Kia CA. Then in December they cancelled my order with no warning. All I saw was a negative card statement. They refunded my down payment no discussion, didn't try to take it at all.

So, I was stuck. Then did some searching and found one with the same config was soon coming into USA docks. I bought it before it even left the ship. I got it from Carson Kia of LA. They even gave me a lower price of 63 K, with some markup, but lower than everyone else.

Hey, I get it production shortages all over the world right now. I know I work as an engineer at a factory, and we tell clients sorry out of stock can't find any all the time. Now is just a sucky time to buy a new car.

luckily, I found my dream car at a bad time. I jumped on the Stinger because I liked it and it was the last year of production.

but, at least the dealer mistakenly released info that they have an electric stinger upcoming. Of which I was shocked they would release such information to me, the public, by accident.

anyways, Im enjoying my first new car.

Good luck to my fellow Stingers

AJ

I got my GT2 Scorpion Edition AWD ceramic silver back on 12/31 for just about 60k before taxes, fees and incentives, from Columbia Kia in Columbia CT. They had a 10% "market adjustment" fee, which is a very common thing when I looked at the same car at other dealerships (John Starks Kia in Queens NY had a $10k markup!). I told these guys I didn't like the initial $5,700 markup and wouldn't pay it, so we were able to cut it down to half and made the numbers more palatable.

I have a similar story as the post above. I initially placed an order for the GT2 Scorpion back in July '21 from my local dealership (Kia of Stamford, CT) because they told me they'd be able to order it. A month after the order I reached out to the sales rep, and he informed me that the order was in Kia's system, but they didn't have an updated status on it. Next month I reach out to the rep, but I wasn't getting a response, so I called the dealership and found out he was no longer there. Another rep called me back and let me know that Kia hadn't put it into the production queue, and that perhaps I should check back in a month.

October comes and I called to get a status, and 2 different reps tell me that the sales manager would reach out to me with a status because only he would have access to that info. I did not get a call back that month. In November I called 3 different times and didn't get a response back from the sales manager. I finally went down to the dealership to get my deposit money back. Manager wasn't even available, so he had one of his minions do the refund and apologize on his behalf. Never doing business with them ever.

I found the GT2 I wanted at another dealership about 45 minutes where I live, but because I was in the process of doing a lease buyout on my car, someone else scooped up that one. The only other Scorpions in my searches were in NY, NJ, or upstate CT, so I reached to Columbia Kia upstate. It was a long ride up there, but they were very friendly, honest, and were willing to negotiate (probably because it was end of month/year).

I get that the whole supply chain issues and shortages are causing these markups, but it still sucks. I really wanted this particular Stinger, because it was a Scorpion Edition, and by the looks of it the last of the Stingers unfortunately. I'm loving my Stinger, and don't regret buying it at all.

Happy driving!

One of Kia's execs is on record saying the Stinger name lives on as the performance trim for the EV6. Obviously in name only, since it's an entirely different car. That performance trim model is supposed to be out in 2022 I think, based on what reviewers are saying in the EV6 videos on youtube recently.

This would indicate to me that once the EV6 'Stinger' is announced and being circulated among reviewers, that the current Stinger will be officially discontinued.

The Stinger's future isn't a secret, just awaiting officially news releases of its demise.

Bought my gt2 awd 2022 ceramic grey red interior for sticker price (53,000) over here in TN with taxes total was 58k.

Kia of Murfreesboro, 2 hours away from Clarksville, it was worth it though. They did a pretty good job holding the car for me because when I showed up for my scheduled test drive, there were people looking at my car and the blue gt2 they had on the lot. I’m not too sure they have any more gt2s though but I’d give them a call. They were actually pretty helpful, I didn’t get any attitude or any bad vibes. Also the negotiation went pretty smooth.
