Any chance we can mod our Stingers to sound like this? This sound is amazing with the pop, crackles, burbles, you name it. After hearing this sound from many different Audi RS3s and the numerous tuners that are getting 600+ hp from the car with upgraded turbos etc.. it makes me want to buy a used Audi RS3 and tune it.

You do know that's a 5 cylinder right? Just that in it self will make it completely impossible for the Stinger to sound like.
The pops and crackles can definitely happen with a bit of ECU tunning, however Im not sure were are there yet with the Stinger.

The Stinger does make gurgling sounds when you let off the gas, but they can only be heard with axel backs removed or an aftermarket exhaust.

Yes I do. We need to get our platform there. If the Stinger sounded as sweet as that, we couldn't keep them on the trucks. Hopefully one day.

Must be a generational thing. Our '82 Civic wagon sounded a LOT like those first 10 seconds when the exhaust rusted through and was basically half a downpipe. The idling / revving in the garage sounds like total crap to me - not enough "muffling". But that's just me.

i guess it's different stokes for different folks cause thats not a sound I want to listen to on a day basis. Buy hey again to each his/her own.

Nasty exhaust leak. He should look into that.

I'm so glad I submitted this thread as I made possibly an inaccurate assumption that folks in general preferred the pops, crackles and burbles of an exhaust over the Kia Stinger. I need to submit a poll and get feedback to find out what is preferred.

More responders need to vote.:D

Sounds like a 16 year old in a 92 Civic with a fart can.

Not for me

I'm not against a few pops and burbles on a downshift, but that general "hollow" raspy sound is just "trying too hard", IMHO. Drone is never acceptable to me..

To me that sounds pretty obnoxious. It looks like they are accelerating into a residential neighborhood at the end of the clip, around either sunset or sunrise - there would be a good group to ask their opinions.

Stinger owners seem to skew older, so you'll probably see less support for obnoxious exhausts than the more popular tuner cars.

I don't think it sounds too bad, but I'd definitely want an EVC so I didn't have to listen to that on my 50 mile commute every day.

That’s how my stinger sounds I’m full catless. Nut so much burbles on the rev but when slowing down it does.

I want our stinger to sound like Cardi B when launching!:laugh:

I like my Bimodal, it has a deep rubble at idle and on cold start is very loud, the centre console and shifter tend to vibrate.
I was always tossing up about getting a Borla but hubby thinks the bimodal is loud enough.
I prefer a sporty but not over the top obnoxious sound. As a GT car I wouldn't want an exhaust that would give you a migraine after a while.
I don't mind some of the crackles and burbles but I really don't like the tinny farty sounds that some make.
The Stinger is a performance Sports sedan not a Korean Muscle car and I think it's note should be sporty and classy, not some hideous noise and definitely wouldn't want a drone.

I just can't get with the 6 cylinder sound...but it doesn't bother me, if I wanted a cool exhaust note I would have stuck with a V8.

Popping and cracking on the over run smacks of bad tuning to me. I know it's a deliberate thing these days and the manufacturers program the standard ECU to do it in some performance cars but back in my motorcycle modding days that kind of sound indicated there was unburnt fuel running through the system.

My wife literally told me, "You have a muscle car!" She speaks from experience...we were dating in college when I was driving a 1971 Nova that I had put a V8 into. I denied it, but I took it as a compliment regarding its power because the Stinger is so refined (and she knows it!).

Yes, it's close but not quite. True muscle cars like the V8 Camaro, Chargers and Shelby Mustangs sound fantastic but tend to be on the boxy side and are less refined than the Stinger. The Stinger has the nice sleek lines and an aerodynamic design indicating it's sporty performance, where as Muscle cars are tough and brawny to look at.

Here is a Korean Muscle car,
