Well, I am pulling the trigger

Most would simply refer to you as the forum's "Karen" but I'm too nice of a guy.
Yeah, OK, Kevin.

Try putting on someone else's shoes for a moment - what Crowley did was shitty and you'd be pissed, too.

I see people going ballistic on here for much more trivial issues than breach of contract, which is what Crowley did.

You know this is all really funny from people who hide behind anonymous names. Pretty pathetic, actually -- anonymous sniping is cowardice.

I started this thread about pulling the trigger and then updated the thread as the situation changed.

Yes I have criticized the car - anyone who has blind loyalty to a make and refuses to see the flaws is... rather foolish, to say the least. I've criticized the car, but 2022 fixed most of it and the remaining stuff is levels of perfection. I have a wish list I'd love to see should they come out with a hybrid version of it, but I have been looking at it rather objectively. After test driving the GT1 I decided to just go ahead with the purchase.

I updated the thread with the report about Crowley reneging and getting all snowflaky when I told them I wanted to call of the search with other dealers while they do some stuff on their end and then they got all touchy, even though I was open up front about talking with multiple dealers in trying to source a GT2 that was in stock, so others can avoid them - and other people Crowley have burned reached out to me and informed me I dodged a bullet. So I am OK with letting it go but I will be getting the word out about Crowley. No wonder they have a 1-star rating on review sites.

Anyway I asked for help finding a dealer with one in stock and some of you chose to accuse me of doing something wrong, and then have continued with the bullying. What the hell is wrong with you? Grow the f**k up.

I post about what I see as flaws in the car and what I would like to see make it into the Stinger (or if the Stinger is killed off and not just put on hiatus during factory retooling, the G70) because it's been reported that Kia follows this forum, ergo it makes sense to post about it here, and to criticize the flaws, and point out to Kia that thanks to the Internet, we know what features are being held from which markets, and considering they claim to have designed the car for the US market, I think it is perfectly appropriate to post about why I have been holding off on it. After crowley's bullcrap I went to a couple of Bimmer dealers to see about an M340i xdrive (I can't stand the Aluminum mesh in the interior but again, that's quibbling over levels of perfection) but really wanted the Stinger, since it was the only one where I can get ventilated sport seats, whereas the other makes force you to choose one over the other. As it turns out, the 3-series is backordered months, the lots are very nearly empty, and the Kia dealer called me and told me they got their allocation in early, and then a couple days later they called and asked "What if I could get you the car tomorrow?" (I had to wait until the day after as I was caring for my dad who is disabled but I did what I could to move the deal forward remotely).

I see plenty of people whining about 'warped brake rotors' (and I was one of two people who had provided the most helpful info on addressing that issue; don't machine the rotors, upgrade to harder pads and re-bed, use valve grinding compound with the original pads if you need to get the deposits off) and time and again I see people whining about the most inane stuff, and funny that's OK when it comes from a fanboy who claims to love the brand and probably has the old Kia logo tattooed on their buttocks, but apparently when a woman knows how to turn a wrench and criticizes the car, she's a bitch.

Double standards are perfectly OK then. Got it. I'll keep that in mind.

A decade ago I swore I'd never buy another kia/hyundai product after what a turd that '11 optima sx turned out to be. Yet here we are..... I hope the stinger doesn't relive that experience.

Perhaps, but I certainly wouldn't have handled it like a petulant toddler.

I wouldn't have attacked fellow forum members, MULTIPLE times. I wouldn't have attacked millions of Kia owners around the world. I wouldn't have come back and pretended I didn't just do those things. And at the very least, if I had magically morphed into a 4 year old child I would have calmed down and apologized upon my return.

One thing we know about a Karen, though? There's never been a Karen who was in the wrong. That streak continues. Congrats.

I had a 13 SXL, no problems. Same with my GTS.

^^My problem was the car wouldn't drive straight without consistent minute corrections. Exhausting on a straight interstate like i65 through indiana. Car was in the shop countless times for alignments, tire rotations, toe bolts, and some other things.

Lots of similar complaints on the optima forums and sonata about this issue.

So, the name KIMBERLY LAZARSKI will forever be linked with referring to Kia owners as "low class." Congratulations on your upstanding bravery!

Oh, stfu with the victimhood bullshit! "Wannnn, I called them low class and now they're being mean to me." You earned it!

I left from Afghanistan and came home to a whole lot of fanfare for the 2012 Optima, mostly due to Blake Griffin jumping over one in the 2011 Allstar dunk contest. At the time I had a Z06, and I went to test drive a 2012 Optima. It was way nicer than anything being put out by GM at the time. I ended up taking that Optima home, and then buying another in 2016, and then a Stinger in 2018. I almost bought a Forte a couple months ago but that fell through.

None of my Kias have ever caused me any mechanical problems. Of the 28 cars I've owned the two that stayed with me the longest were both Kias. They may suck at marketing, sales, and service, but damnit the Koreans build a damn fine vehicle--and have been for the last decade.

<shrug> Mine just couldn't find its on center. I test drove the stinger a good 20 miles before committing to it just to make sure this (and other) issues did not exist.

I’m in the same boat, I’ve owned over 30 vehicles and the Optima had the least amount of problems. Kept that one for six years. Actually regret getting rid of it given how they used market is right now

For me at age 18 it was a 1990 Mitsubishi Precis, which was a rebadged Hyundai Excel. It was a fun little econobox that was comfortable for road trips and since I had muscle cars to play with, I babied the Excel. Well, the transmission failed not once, but twice - my dad insisted I was beating on it (if so, why was the clutch perfectly fine?). OK - second time I rebuilt it, I gave him the car. Guess what? A few months later, the transmission failed again. Before rebuilding it, I teased my dad about beating on the car, it must be his driving because I didn't even get behind the wheel after rebuilding it the second time, etc. - we took it to his buddy's shop and measured it and found that the journals for the shafts were out of spec (past what shims could fix) and putting too much stress on the bearings so his buddy re-machined them. I still haven't let my dad live that down. Oh - oh yeah, and the piston rings burnt despite regular oil changes, so Mitsuhyundai replaced the engine in it (after warranty) because it was a manufacturing defect from a bad run of engines. That car was never right from the start.

Because of my craptacular experience with the Precis ("badge engineered" Excel) I swore of off Hyundai products, and by proxy, Kia (for you kids, Hyundai cars SUCKED back in the day, with reliability worse than Chrysler, Fiat, etc.). The Stinger won me back. I found the original Genesis "coupe" (it had >2 doors, so it was a saloon/sedan, not a coupe) nice, but it didn't "WOW" me like the Stinger did. After 30 years The Stinger won me back.

I was kinda wondering if this site had that feature. Never had a reason to use on here it before. I will say, after being on numerous other forums over the years this is the least drama filled one I've experienced. Haven't had much if any negative bullshit like many of the rest I've been a part of and like I've said before, I don't fit the typical demographic of a car forum. It's been nothing but great.

OP, I don't think members here are out to get you. Some of the folks you're exchanging barbs with have proven to be extremely good-natured through the years.

Maybe you are good-natured too, but your posts accusing others of being dicks, dorks, daft, low class... If you look back at what your posts were in response to, hopefully you can see a perspective in which those were not hostile, nor attacks on your character. (e.g., @nhcowboy28 post #2 on the length of your initial post--I didn't see that as an attack whatsoever. There wasn't even any judgement in it).

That perspective is where most of the community is coming from. As far as I can see, your character became more of the focus after multiple insults from your posts directed at other members, or even the greater Kia community. Throughout all of this, plenty of members were chiming in with honest attempts to help.

Based on the continued well-meaning and on-topic posts in this thread, I think it's clear that you can still get something from this forum. But if some members' sense of humor don't sit well with you, it could be a bit of a rough ride--we do a lot of humor around here, and it doesn't often (if ever) result in confrontation.

If you do find a way to see the humor and good-natured ribbing, I think you will find this is one of the most hospitable enthusiast communities you'll ever come across.

That reminds me of the "dead spot" in the middle of my 4-series steering. How BMW thought that was a good idea is just mind-blowing.

Steering coupler. Like a $2 plastic piece. That trying to drive in a straight line was miserable until I got that replaced. My 12 SX was amazing at 170k When I totaled it hitting a deer with 1 car payment left. K5 wasn't gonna cut it with the hp decrease so Stinger it is.

Really? When did they finally figure this out? What exactly does this part do?
