Well, I am pulling the trigger

I think with the shortages, customers are getting the short end of the stick in many situations. Salespeople know they have buyers over a barrel. Combine that with some Kia dealers already being hard to deal with, and I'm sure it's a mess.

Requiring that much cash upfront is very strange. I'm sure they'd have financed anyone that was willing to pay well above MSRP with no money down. Very odd.

I'd say just move on to another dealer and forget that one.

Even if they don't have what you want in stock, they'd probably dealer trade for the one you had your eye on - so long as you're paying enough of a premium. With a dealer trade, you'd get the car itself but not have to deal with the first dealership yourself.

If all the dealers in your area are poor to deal with, I'd hesitate to buy from the brand. Part of the appeal of the Stinger is the long warranty, and you're sure to have to use it at some point for a recall and eventually repairs. I'm fortunate to have a good dealer around that I used to service my previous car. I knew I'd be in good shape when it came time to service the Stinger.

If it comes to the point of a different brand/model, here's what I'd consider:
S5 Sportback
440i Gran Coupe xDrive
Macan S (yes, it's a crossover, but I'd give it a drive)

Good luck with whatever you decide.

It took me months of shopping to buy mine..never thought I’d own an Orange one tbh..that said my girl was not a fan of the color, and not one of Kia.
Needless to say I kept the car..can’t say the same for the girl..(and this is completely true) part of the reason I broke up with her was because she became such a fking car snob…

Now I get to spend more money on my ride.

Seems like your car deserves more of your love anyway ;)

My wife always said I was ridiculous for having a red WRX (bought it before we met). My response was "you don't know cars at all" :D. Luckily she likes the Ceramic Silver quite a bit!

So you did dump the girl that you had taken to Whole Foods after all eh? ;)

reminds me when I was younger. I was interested in a couple of ladies. One was a coworker but she worked at a different bank branch. we would always flirted in email and when we would see each other. The other was my neighbor at my apartment complex. The bank girl asked me what kind of car I drove. The neighbor girl purposely parked next to my car at the apartment because she had a crush on me and never cared what I drove.

I’m celebrating my 10 year wedding anniversary this weekend with the neighbor girl. However she loves my Kia

And... here she is - the dealer who encouraged me to call around rang me and told me that their allocation came early and they're hold it for me. I need to drive it by Crowley and show them I'm not just a fire kicker. I wasn't wild about ceramic silver in photos but photos do not do this color justice.

Off to the far right you can see the Saab I've been loathe to give up. I'll finally give up on the 9-3 at the next costly repair - I want to keep it for when the roads are covered with salt.

I picked it up at 5pm today and already put >120 miles on it. The manual says no break in is necessary so while I am not visiting the rev limiter I have been having fun launching it up to the speed limit. People have already tried to bait me into racing but my road racing days are over. I love my dirt cheap insurance.

Tip-in delay isn't nearly as bad as it was on the GT1 I test drove. I have no idea what the reason for that would be; the ECU programming should be identical shouldn't it? Needless to say, I've spent little time in comfort mode and about 30 seconds in eco. I expect to use that only on road trips to reduce number of stops.

The ventilated seats seem to be most effective when the car is moving - isn't that feature just a fan under the seat?

Oh and the GT2 really is that much better than the GT1. :)

So far I have a few minor quibbles but am really love the car - in spite of those godawful side reflectors.

Congrats. I got the jr. version of that car just a week ago myself (same color).

What's the build date on the vin tag?

Don't you love that advertisement sticker. I took mine off the same evening I got it. It's a sort of sticky static cling.

I haven't checked the build date - I've been too busy driving it like I stole it. :)

Congrats, beautiful color.

For Christ's sake you're a bunch of dorks. The ZR1 Corvette and exotic car community may banter but they rarely ever have a mean spirit. But then again, they're also typically not the Kia demographic, so I suppose Kia fans are by and large low class. I just happen to like the Stinger and see it for what it is, despite the crappy nameplate.

Just remember Kimberly, the above words came from you ( about all on this forum ) so forgive me if I'm not filled with joy over your new Stinger.

After all the time, help and advice people on this forum gave you, and then you went and INSULTED ALL OF THEM ( including me ), and now you say I/WE are bullying you ?!?

Do you have any mirrors in your house ??

Its possible that GT1 you drove had lower octane gas. I have yet to see it with a Stinger, but I've seen people complain about it with other cars. The dealer would accidentally put in the wrong gas.

Also, why did you end up buying the car? You made a few posts stating you had no faith in the brand after reaching out to corporate Kia. Why give them you money?

And why return to these forums? There are other Stinger forums and Facebook groups.

This thread is a trip

It should have gone to a better home.

My issue with some of you is the bullying. I had a problem with a dealer who reneged when I was up front about talking to multiple dealers in searching for the GT2 (Dan O'Brien was adding a $10K markup and wasn't swapping with other dealers and MA Stingers were not an option due to the UVO Link issue) and Kia was no help in making Crowley honor the deal, so I was pissed, and rightly so - and it's been quite telling when folks they've ripped off pinged me and informed me I dodged a bullet.

Some of you chose to be pricks and jump down my throat and I am calling it out and that triggered you. I never took well to bullies in real life, and when I've had enough, they've learned to not underestimate people. Bullying online on a forum like this is pathetic. Get a life - especially you Merlin, since you tend to be an ass to multiple people but hey at least you're an equal opportunity bully.

Most of you are great and thank you for the info and advice you've given and I do appreciate it. Thanks to you nice folks who didn't join in on the bullying.

As far as my complaints about the car after putting 150 miles on it: at this point it's quibbling over levels of perfection. Winter will be telling as to whether or not I'll need to have an LSD swapped in the rear but for summer it's fine with the open diff. It's an amazing car.

After failing to have things done your way, you referred to millions of Kia owners as "low class." You then come back acting like it didn't happen and you expect open arms from the "low class" folks you just insulted a week ago? What are you on?

A few months ago I asked you if you were cross shopping any other cars and you replied that I was "flaming" or some weird shit...I suppose low class folks like myself don't get apologies from you high class Subaru folks.

I'm really puzzled, though, how you got to the "bullying" bullshit. I know that word gets thrown around and abused a lot nowadays but for you of all people to use it is just quite comical to me. You're just a typical 50 year old habitual victim that throws stones and hides her hands. Most would simply refer to you as the forum's "Karen" but I'm too nice of a guy. :)
