Come on not Chicago. Who wants to drive all the way just to deal with Chicago?
The city in Chicago is actually quite nice...Come on not Chicago. Who wants to drive all the way just to deal with Chicago?
Georgia: 5As far as the Stinger Fest goes, why not Z-Max Dragway at Charlotte, NC Motor Speedway. That’s where I did the Stinger Experience Drive. Yeah, I bought my GT2 AWD after that.
And there’s a Stinger Salon at the Irvine Spectrum Mall. So party!Irvine has some of the best weather in the U.S. and is only minutes away from several major beach cities and scenic Pacific Coast Highway.
I agree, sounds like the first event, Stinger owners getting together in a parking lot should be done at the local/regional level and the factory sponsored event would be a large multi function get together in a national site. A week from Sunday, S. Florida and C. Florida is planning to attend a Cars and Coffee meet in West Palm Beach Florida. Sounds like there could be thousands of people expected to see this once a month gathering.@Kia Stinger -
***EDIT*** I created this post after just looking at the poll and not the discussion - SORRY! LOL***
None of those places thrill me as far as travelling. Although I'd put Chicago, Georgia, and Texas as easiest based on distance. But I'm more wondering what the goal is here.
How involved does Kia want to get? Mitsubishi Owners' Day, for instance, took place in both California and in Normal, Illinois because that's where the factory was. There were aftermarket vendors, food, factory tours, giveaways, door prizes, special models of other Mitsu vehicles including historical ones, etc.
It seems that someone needs to decide what the event is. If it's a bunch of owners showing up in a parking lot and then groups do their own things in the evening(s), etc. and is really informal, that's one thing. If Kia wants to sponsor some giveaways, etc., that fits. But if they want to actually make it an event, then they'd need more involvement.
These kinds of things need a couple of people to do some work, and some times a LOT more work. If it's much more than the above: maybe blocks of hotel rooms, maybe some other event nearby (car museum, sports event, etc.), perhaps an autocross course (in$urance), aftermarket presence, and/or more.
I think I'd brainstorm with Kia to see what they have in mind. And then I'd brainstorm with the community to see what it is they want to have and be able to do at this "destination".
Sorry if I've hijacked this thread. I'd just like to see it come together and be successful if we're going to make it a big thing!
Was not suggesting that..Kia doesn't want to crash a Cars & Coffee event, I'm pretty sure.
Irvine's near Disneyland/California Adventure, so your kids won't consider it a wasted vacation, and if you all are coming this far anyway, the Petersen, one of the largest automotive museums in the world, is on Wilshire Blvd. (Museum Row) in L.A., about 50 miles from KMA, Irvine.Irvine has some of the best weather in the U.S. and is only minutes away from several major beach cities and scenic Pacific Coast Highway.
