• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Love my 2018 (MY2019) Stinger. As this is the last year of production I was considering updating to current model, if I can find one! Not much difference in specs between my 2018 and the 2023 models. Heated steering wheel, wider info screen. Carplay STILL wired. Nothing there to justify a change. But I was thinking it may be a good time to change while my car is still running well (85K kms) and has good resale value. Updating resets the 7 year warranty and it should still have good value in 5-7 years time (depending on how any progress with electric infrastructure and uptake changes value of petrol cars in that time).

What do people think?

I think if you love the car and want to extend your time with the platform, go for it. The downside is I think the car will take a dive in resale once its officially cancelled.

^^^it could do the opposite. we don't know. but if it did that would probably be years down the road anyway.

my feeling, op, is that if you are currently satisfied with your ride then keep it. trying to better your luck by getting newer is chancy because you never know what the swap to a different car will bring. personally, I want to keep my 2018 gt1 because it has been an almost perfect experience. I suspect that if I swapped for, say a tribute edition being offered for a tempting deal, I'd probably end up with 'rattles' or worse. there is no reason to expect a five year old car to turn into a rusty rattle trap in another five years. kia makes sound cars that age really well.

In my opinion, worthwhile only if the price gap between yours and a new one isn't too large.

If the Stinger does manage to reach a certain desirability, then it's likely that the later models will be worth more since they're the 'end of the line'. It's also possible though that they just won't end up catching on and they'll depreciate like normal, impossible to know really.

For what it's worth, I bought my Stinger new in 2022, and the current recommended Redbook sale price for it is about $8k more than I paid for it, so they're still doing well at the moment.

I have a MY21 GT with only 17000kms and I wonder about upgrading to a MY23 GT. I think the only difference is the Kia Badge and speed sign recognition. I also think about the warranty being reset for another 7 years. I bought my MY21 GT for $62k drive away and I wonder how much the difference would be purchasing a MY23. Carsales says my private price range for my kms and model is between $59k - $65k.

I plan to keep the car for quite a while as the performance & features for $ is unmatched in any other brand, but I often wonder how soon the technology in the Stinger will fall behind. I love the interior, I love the exterior, I love the power & fuel economy, but sometimes my mind wanders towards Hybrids or Electric vehicles. I like some of the extras in the Genesis line-up, but it starts to get a bit expensive. Our roads out west can be a little bit crap, so the ride can be a bit harsh sometimes, so it makes me think about looking at SUV's or something a bit higher and softer. I also don't mind the look of the Sportages/Sorento's, but just a little bit lacking in power for me.

I'm in two minds.

I say stick i don't think its worth the extra $ for very little gain. More than happy with my 10/17 in fact its running as smooth as i can remember.

I would say swap only if you plan to keep the new one for 7 years. Then, having warranty is really the best investment. A part of what you spend on it now you will recover as resale value.
But, if you only want to keep it for 2-3 years then don't bother. You still have 1-2 years of your warranty. It should be fine.
Mine has 157k km and no engine trouble. I have the 2.0 gt-line.

There maybe a 7 year warranty but the miles/km are restricted. A lot of people will reach the allocated amount before 7 years. I forget what the distance is.

Isn’t it 7 years unlimited kms for Aus?

I went through a similar thing, start of the year looked at getting a replacement for my 2020 GT (keep em for 4 years), looked at the new one and couldn't justify buying a car that when I am due to swap over start 2024 will be around 7 years old with some minor updates. So essentially at the end of the next 4 years will be an 11 year old car.
Decided to change to a Genesis GV70.

Well, believe it or not decided to both! Bought a 2023 model and also am keeping the old one - sort of. My son is taking the 2018.

So we will be a 2 Stinger family! :)

test drove a '22 gt-line today. was surprised that it didn't feel torquier than my 2.0l even in sport mode, so, Ima wondering what the added 40 horses went to? it will get faster 0-60 sure, however my butt dyno does not feel it. this adventure was about looking into a new lease if we decide to trade in the 2019 premium. the dealer offered $26,500 for it, which I think is not a bad deal.
