Hey guys!
Just had an Injen intake kit installed (and also have an MBRP cat back). Was running the JB4 but had it removed just prior to Injen install for a dealer service. I’m now hearing quite a bit of bark from the turbo when coming off the throttle under moderate to hard acceleration. I totally understand the principle behind turbo/compressor surge but since I’m back to stock boost it seems strange that intakes would create a problem with vacuum and cause bark. Anyone else experience this? Any suggestions on BOVs or things to check for? Wasn’t happening with factory intakes, even on MAP2 with the JB4 so I’m surprised it’s happening now at stock PSI.

Not really certain of your experience so I will start assuming little, don't take offense.

Are you just talking about noise? You will hear both the turbo spool up when you get on the gas and the BOVs chirp when you get off the gas MUCH more with aftermarket intakes vs stock. The BOV chirp is them dumping the excess pressure.

After market intakes should expose those existing noises you couldn't hear before.

No offence taken at all! Totally not the usual the chirp or hiss of a BOV functioning normally. When the throttle plate closes quickly that air that can’t be recirculated bounces off the throttle plate and if it can’t escape anywhere else it will slow, stop or even reverse the turbine of a turbo. This wasn’t happening at all before the intakes went in - and I was running an additional few PSI before that so it should have been happening then - so I’m wondering if maybe the factory BOVs are wearing/seizing a bit or if an aftermarket intake installation could somehow reduce the effectiveness of the factory diverted that the Stinger has to recirc any excess back pressure.

Hello there. I know this thread is a little old but I just had my injen intake installed today with JB4. No exhaust. As I was going home, while hitting the throttle hard I also get a loud Chirp!! It only happens when I get on the throttle. Did you find out if this is normal? From what I have been reading it is. Injen intakes, Snorkels, heat shields with JB4 and Mishimoto catch can. Talked to the mechanic who installed and he seems it sounds normal. Going to try and recreate the noise tomorrow.
Cheers
