A warning from a personal anecdote:
Back in October of last year, I sent a check to completely buy out the rest of my Stinger. However, as the check was in route, I also had an auto payment go through, resulting in me over-paying, and having a negative balance on my account. I called up Kia finance, and they said no problem, they will send me a check to cover the overage.
Well, they sent the check, but the name was made out to someone I've never heard of (and certainly not me), so I couldn't deposit it. Now about once a month, I call up Kia Finance (which takes several attempts because of Covid issues) and explain my situation. There is even a special note on file from previous calls. They tell me yeah, there should be a re-issued check coming my way, and they don't know why it hasn't been sent out yet; that they should send it out soon, and I should look for it in the mail in about 2 weeks.
To this very day (I called again yesterday-- same story), I have not received my money. They do not give anything in writing, or a case/confirmation number, so you are kind of left in the dark, hoping they are good on their word. I honestly think they are trying to make it correct, but somehow it just gets buried in the bureaucratic channels, until I call again and remind them. I need to increase my call frequency.
Anyways, this is just a warning to get your ducks in a row, and and make sure everything is wrapped up neatly for Kia, otherwise, you may still be dealing with your issue a year later.
