Transmission Slipping

I've noticed that the transmission on my Stinger can shift very differently depending on the drive mode that I'm in. In Eco or Comfort, it will often skip gears to shift quickly into higher ones sooner in order to reduce RPM and save fuel. It can sometimes seem like it's missing shifts, or that it's slipping when actually it's not. Also, this is a torque converter transmission, not a dual-clutch, so some "slippage" is to be expected.
All the info i was presented said dual clutch so sad to hear

Where did you ever read that the Stinger has a dual-clutch transmission? It has had the same "strongly inspired by ZF 8HP", but in-house designed by Hyundai, 8-speed hydraulic torque converter driven, electronic automatic transmission since day 1. And in Sport Mode shifts as fast as any dual-clutch without the issues associated with such a design. Hence the 0-60 in 4.7 seconds for a 4000lbs car. It's not quite a ZF in terms of shifting logic, but comes very close. As for reliability, only time will tell, but I doubt that it could be more reliable than a ZF in the long run.

Who are you ragging with omfg i came here for tranny discussions

Not raging lmfao.

Guy is off in his own little world arguing with himself haha

Seems like it.

You're not advancing your opinion in a convincing manner when you resort to exaggeration.

Orange is not like Yellow and does not have flaws above the norm: which involves fewer than 2% of the forum membership; even allowing for members without Stingers, that is a paltry number looking for answers to their cars having paint imperfections.

Engines are not exploding, and certainly not failing in "rampant" numbers, even including modded engines.

I was saying that those with yellow paint and orange paint have been having issues.

Your exaggerations and belligerent responses make you less than ideal to argue with. you want to Spout off random claims and insults leave it for the mirror because I’m not interested in engaging with your small minded responses any further. I’m out of this conversation but thank you for your time

Didn't mean to trigger you. My "raging" was in your original response which was to put down the original poster and creator of this thread for explaining their problem and then going off on the individual who replied to them saying that these cars certainly do have issues. You put down someone who was discussing how these Stingers have a fair bit of issues and that it is a bit odd for a halo car.

Clearly reading comprehension is a struggle for many people on this thread. I can't tell if it's a language barrier or simply due to reading text as opposed to hearing it spoken out in a human's voice. Either way, I am not here to fight or argue. I apologize if my posts came across belligerent or offensive or rude. I see a very common pattern of people putting down others who voice their concerns on these forums and then the longer responses get drowned out. Not surprised seeing it on a Kia forum though.

My local kia dealer made it 'clear' to me that the car had a dual clutch back in January 2018. This is not the first time hearing or looking for info about it. I found out months after my purchase:/ still sad that my dealer couldnt be correct lol

Someone cant search lmfao... the braking system problems on GT models with the "Brembo" package is huge and vast... Why don't you search up the yellow and orange paint issues or engine explosions (on stock motors) that are running rampant?

Like I said, but you refused to read, I understand that ALL vehicles will have problems out there. The thing is though, certain vehicles like a Lexus IS350 or a Toyota Camry are going to (statistically) have fewer problems than a Kia Stinger or a BMW 650i. These are just a few small examples.

Kia advertised the Stinger has as halo car and therefore people are stunned how many problems they have. Again, I advise you to look up the problems with paint, engines, and brakes. Here... I did 1/3 of the searching for you...

I miss my IS350, The 2021 was improved but no extra horsepower! No one can't beat the Lexus Dealership experience!

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Lexus dealership experience along with Mercedes and BMW dealership experience are fantastic; speaking both from a personal level and from the word of mouth from my friends. Granted though, I only go to dealerships for warranty work or recalls. Every state we have lived in we had a local guy or a buddy who knew a buddy that could work on our cars.

I remember when I was shopping for a new car and went to Kia the clowns were so focused on talking about monthly payments (rather than OTD final price) it made my head spin trying to explain to them that I don't care if I am buying the car for "only" $30k if I have to spend another few grand on other tacked on stuff here and there lmfao.

I have worked in higher end car sales (Tesla) and have friends that have worked with other higher brand names (Jaguar, Maserati, Mercedes, BMW, and Porsche) and they say they "gotta kinda be dumb" when selling to the masses when they moved to the more standard brands such as Honda, Toyota, Kia, Subaru, etc... Not putting those brands down (heck, we have owned multiple Toyota products lmfao) but the demographic seems to focus on a "low" monthly payment even if they are overpaying by a landslide or if the loan is 72 months lol.

Anyway... I respect Kia for building the Stinger and I was and still am happy to support their journey to compete with bigger names but the multiple dealerships I have had to deal with make me know now why people pay a "premium" for the higher end German or Japanese brands...

Today I just noticed that for one of the gears (either 3rd or 4th I think) it won't engage, the car will just rev out and buck without putting much to the wheels, before upshifting. There are no dash lights and I'm posting this now before eventually, I will have to go to the dealer. It will do this in all the modes and even if I'm driving modestly to shift softly, or on the gas. When I go to work in the mornings I usually try and let the car warm up or at the very least drive extremely conservatively at the beginning of my drive to prevent this exact sort of wear and early drivetrain problems, and I'm just a little frustrated it happened anyways.

That being said, has anyone had similiar issues? Is the transmission likely shot?
Any updates ,
Today just happened with me ,

Would like to hear an update about this. My 21GT sometimes when I shift too quickly with the paddles it’d get stuck at 5th gears, paddle up shift won’t work. Had to reset to automatic mode to get it upshot normally
