Hey all,

Noticed during my last oil that there was some trans fluid leaking. I wiped it all off and checked back 2 weeks later and it had returned. Took it into the local dealer today and they are asking for me to drive it for another two leaks as they cant tell where the leak is coming from... This is more of a sanity check for myself but wouldn't it be reasonable to say that the leak is the seal where the accumulation is? I saw a few people have posted about this issue before but it seems like there dealerships called in for a new transmission without a fight. Any thoughts appreciated.

Yup. the dreaded trans seal leak.
Not sure why the dealership told you to drive it for a couple weeks to confirm it...its well documented.
And its obvious to the most jnr mechanic what it is..no other place under the housing for transmission fluid to leak from.
Other leaks would be motor oil....

What year and mileage?

I had a trans fluid leak from the cooler lines.

I'm assuming you are referring to my transmission leak...

If so, it was covered under warranty and Kia claimed to have replaced item #1 oil cooler tube

But I am about 99% confident they only replaced the four o-rings as shown in the second image.

Looks like it's a quick 5-minute job, exceedingly easy, just one single M8 (12mm hex head) bolt with clear access.

Looks like the O-Ring is actually kind of expensive (need 4).

Shop around obviously, the price seems almost randomized across different sites .

Yes I was referring to the leak and thank you very much I have 2019 2.0 L Blue Edition stinger and it is out of warranty was wondering if I could do it myself, very much appreciate your detailed response

Thank you very much, I'm going to investigate it further today, hopefully it's just the o rings
