TPMS concern

So a year ago I bought new wheels and tires for my stinger and I didn't put the stock TPMS from my old wheels to the new wheels. So now the tire pressure indicator is now on and I ordered OEM tpms for my stinger. If I install the new TPMS on my new set of wheels, will the indicator disappear? Or do I have to meddle with the computer of my car to get rid of it?

TPMS should start signaling to the computer without having to do anything special. I had aftermarket TPMS installed on my TSW wheels and they've always worked exactly like the OEM sensors do.

Even if it took several months after I install them it will automatically detect the new sensors? I ordered from Kia so its basically the same as the stock ones

I didn't have sensors over winter and put on aftermarket sensors and it learned them after a few miles. the TPMS in the stinger will auto learn them, it doesn't care how long you haven't had sensors.

What @RogueIV said: if the TPMS don't start sending the psi within miles/minutes, something in the interface is incompatible most likely.

Unlikely to be a issue as OP has ordered OEM.

No, you need a TPMS programming tool to pair the sensors. They are dirt cheap on ebay/amazon. You have to put your car into TPMS recognize mode, go around and program car to recognize the sensor, then select the TPMS reset function and go out and drive till they work. I haven't looked at this in the manual, but it's the procedure for any TPMS car that I have driven.

I'm not sure that's not what I'm reading in the manual.

But if you have experience with changing TPMS sensors and it being able to auto-pair, then all the better.

That's not what I'm reading in the manual, it's talking about how the warning will be on if you take the wheel off and use the spare and that when you fix the original and re-install it and it's back at operating pressure, it should be fine. The manual talks about "initializing" a sensor with Kia service, which I assume is the programming of a new sensor.

The spare doesn't have a sensor, so yeah the light will come on if you have a spare. It also can't detect a sensor in a wheel that isn't rotating. So if you have a inflated wheel sitting in the hatch it's not going to show up in the system unless it's bolted to the car and spinning.

As I've said before I have 4 aftermarket TPMS sensors that were never on the car prior and the car learned them on it's own. This is after spending several months without any sensor present on the car as I don't have TPMS sensors in my winter wheels. It learned them within 10 miles. No initializing with Kia service required.

Thanks for the insights. But the sensors i got are from the KIA dealership. So I guess OEM's won't cause any problems? but yeah then again if it doesn't work might as well do something with the interface

Yeah I'm just curious and all since it's my first time buying aftermarket wheels for a car so i guess i'd ask first hand information from stinger owners as well.

I put on aftermarket wheels & purchased a set of OE sensors, the wheel store fitted them, I drove for about 2-3kms & worked fine, no reprogramming was necessare.

How about banding the TPMS to the wheel? I bought after market wheels that wont allow the TPMS to be attached to the valve stem. My mechanic bad mouthed banding them (would get torn up on changing, hard to balance, etc).

I don't know much about the banding process but if its banded in the right place it should be a non issue.
