• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

I'm looking for a replacement for my XR6T and the stinger gt has my attention, however it would need to have a tow bar fitted and I'm having trouble finding detailed pictures of the ones fitted to our AU cars (locally built I believe)
Can anyone help me with this ??

Hi @dddd , Welcome to our StingerForum, i am sure other members may be able to help you more than myself, the only info i know of in regards to towbars made for the Stinger is on Kia.com.au website , you click on CARS up top of page, then click on STINGER, then click on ACCESSORIES, then you will find the Kia genuine towbar for the Stinger, only has one photo , some info of towing capaciity and price. Hope this helps some.

I think there was a guy from Tassie that posted ages ago about the tow bar. Took him a while to get it and then had issues trying to fit the bimodal with the tow bar fitted. If you search through the forum particularly the Down Under section you may find his post and be able to DM him

I have one on my MY19 Stinger with bimodal exhaust. On the first version of the bimodal you couldn't fit a tow bar but that has now been changed.
The cut out is large in the bumper but is low down so it doesn't look too bad. Im going to have the metal behind the bumper painted black so the cutout isn't as noticeable without the Tow-bar tongue fitted.

Thanks for the reply and pictures. Can I assume the wiring harness remains rolled up in the boot when not in use ??
I can honestly say I have never seen a worse designed tow bar unit ever, what I find amazing is that they have gone to the trouble of designing/fitting a removable bar, supposedly because it will look tidier without it, and yet to get access to remove the pin they have to cut enormous holes out of the back of the car which looks a hundred times worse than the protruding bar
How did anyone approves this design, I believe its disgraceful to put this on such a beautifully designed car
I can see I will have to fit this myself (and probably make it non removable)
Does the bar look difficult to fit ??

I would have thought they would have at least put a black trim moulding/pinchweld around that cutout instead of leaving it bare like that.

Yes, this is the same one they fitted on my GT here in NZ. Pretty disgusted at the design and workmanship from Waikato Kia, even had to send it back to replace the wiring harness (the didn't check it before they delivered it to me) and had to ask them to sprat inside the bumper black so it didn't stand out so much. Pity its such a nice car only to be ulgyed up by a crap tow bar design and install...unfortunately had to have one but come on Kia...up your game, stingers are not in the same league as your sportage :-(

Yes the harness is rolled up in the boot.
Today I painted part of the panel behind the bar and a bit under the car and also put some pinch weld on. Much nicer and less noticeable now.

That looks heaps better, Kia or whoever fitted it should have been done this first place, attention to detail is paramount.
