Hello, new Stinger owner (base GT), first time posting. Been reading a lot!

Is the top speed governed? I assume it is, but I was showing my wife how the launch control worked and stayed in it to see where it would cut out. I got to 133 mph and let up. Makes me wonder if there is a limiter or not? Holy Cow!

Yes they are governed. The 18’s are governed in the 130s and the 19’s are at 167. Difference due to the tires installed from the factory on the different wheel sizes being rated at different top speeds.

Either way... man that seems pretty high. Not that I'm complaining! Doubt I'll ever hit that.

Someone posted a video of a guy getting up to 170 on a race track.

Come with me friend, let me show you a thread where people think a 130 limiter is the end of the world. ;)

That was one of the first Stinger Forum threads I read. Bellyaching over having a 140 mph governed top speed, because of the "wrong" wheels (18s); and if they change to 19s it won't allow them to go up to a theoretical 167 mph. True enough, I suppose. But there are fixes for governed speed. A tune shop can bypass or override. Getting 170 mph has to be a bypassed governor. Unless I expected to go race track exploring, I'd not be bothering messing with the speed governing.

the majority of the time, i've seen people do the 40-100 blast. because of the traffic on the roads here in florida, unless you are driving at 2 a.m., or are a complete and utter moron by doing it in traffic, people just floor it for a couple of car lengths. there was a comedian in the 80's who used to do this stand-up routine, and he would say, i don't care how fast your 0-60 times are. you can do it in 5 seconds? big deal. i want a car that can slow down from 120 to 45 in 1.5 seconds.

Will Brembos do that? They LOOK like they would!

i think more like a 3 ton anchor. probably a 74 ford ltd thrown out the hatch would stop us that quickly.

The era when "boating along" was coined.

I think one of the tuner members here said the car appears to be mechanically safe to 200 - with enough power.

Curious as to what the theortical top speed is at redline and top of 8th gear on the 19s.
