Tint, paint and leather protection

I've signed on the dotted line in WA for a white GT with red nappa, should be pretty special. I have passed though on the tinting, paint and leather protection.

Although the price for all this was down to $1,500 I am fairly sure I get this cheaper outside the dealership.

Anyone else gone outside for this or pass altogether?

Paying for a brand new car and then having the dealer say the paint and leather is not adequately protected is just plain wrong.

Welcome to the forum & congrats on your purchase I especially like your choice of white with red leather. Dealer tint, leather & paint protection for $1500 seems reasonable, by using the dealer you also get warranty & the knowledge if something is wrong the dealer is there unlike using a 3rd party, but this is my preference & opinion. Good luck with getting the best deal you can & enjoy the ride.

Yep that's an old dealer up sell ploy. The car comes with a guarantee remind them of that. Its certainly wrong. John Cadogan addresses this in his popular car expert videos.

What do you mean about "leather protection"? Never heard about that before ... just to have a regular care with conditioners.

yeah, I understand the up-sell incentive for the dealer as a way to improve their margins which is part the industry everywhere.

The leather protection is a cream or spray one time treatment they give for better stain and sun protection as well as to keep it soft. As long as you take care of the car its fine of course and the warranty takes care of any faults. The paint protection made sense under Australian sun and well as easier cleaning from bugs after long distance trips.

Stinger GT SS makes a good point on the warranty coverage as well as its simply easier and faster through the dealer on purchase.

$1,500 sounds good especially when financed, but I am confident I can get it for half of that or less by shopping around.

Yeah that is pretty damn sweet. I was going for the chroma blue and a mate has the red already, saw a white in the dealership and it made the decision very easy. Its a fantastic colour and really shows the car off well. Hard part was the leather as the pictures are always unclear depending on the light. Not may dealers had the red kappa to view in person.

Im north of the river and looking forward to heading down south regularly. Bought in February and expecting delivery in May. Waiting on the dealer update today.

Well, dealer informed me of delays today and a likely June shipment now. Will find out more on Wednesday, fingers crossed. I paid sticker with $1k of accessories included as well as a decent finance rate. Could have got more but at the time the order was in so earlier delivery than other dealers...... at least that was the plan!

If this is through Kia Finance, your rate is likely to change to whatever is available at the time of delivery... I would double-check that...

I ordered mine early March and got some news last week that it will arrive two weeks early, 16th May. Pretty happy about that, straight to Tint-a-car Myaree for tinting, paint and alloy protection and I am good to go. On 23 April they said no update and it was going to be early June. Then only one week later the update come through that it will arrive early. Seems they only know when Kia finally pushes out the order and not much until then.

Hey Webbers what date did you order your stinger? I ordered mine mid Jan and still cant get any info.

Thats sounds like its running late as the wait time I was advised was four to five months. I only got mine earlier because the dealer already had an order in with Kia for that car so I was able to take that one on immediately. Quick call to Kia and they agreed to swap the black for red leather so went very smoothly. Hopefully you hear back soon as thats getting on a bit for sure!

Took delivery this week and sorted tinting, paint, alloy and leather protection with Tint a Car Myaree who did a fantastic job. Enjoyed the sun with a mate who has a red GT. Holy smokes am I happy. Absolutely fantastic drive, much more power than expected. Cruise control will help me from loosing too many points and launch control was plenty of fun and surpisingly easy. Will take some time to master the toys and features for sure.

Looking forward to a longer drive soon.
