After getting a 10k discount on my car and the finance dude first going into his Gap insurance pitch, I cut him short and said I was not interested. When he got to the extended warranty pitch he first asked me if he should even bother, I said no.
Check with your Insurance company they might offer a reasonable compromise, mine offers an extended warranty, 7 yrs 100k miles on new cars with less than 2k miles for an extra $30 each contract renewal (6 mths), which allows for a $50 windshield replacement, which I have had to do twice in the last 4 yrs with $500 out of pocket for each. I did go with the Geico extended warranty $60 a year cancel anytime. One windshield replacement would cover the extended warranty cost, the other option would have been to lower my deductible for a slightly higher premium the extended warranty seemed like a better bang for my buck.
