So I've been doing my research and have mixed feelings about the car. I love the looks, the true GT nature of the car, and the warranty. I've been researching what others have paid and am not finding those deals. Plenty of too good to be true ads that end up being bogus. My first attempt to test drive a GT1 was a joke. Dealer had 3 Stingers on lot, one GT1 AWD. I called and set up an appointment to see the car. Showed up, and no Stingers on display. Manager said they would go get the car (which was out front the day before) after we talked about a potential deal because they don't normally allow test drives of Stingers. I mentioned $40K as a realistic number and they wouldn't budge off of MSRP, and only Kia incentives so I walked without so much as even sitting in the car.

Another dealer reached out about a GT, I was interested in a GT1, but went to check it out. It ended up being a GT AWD Indigo Special Edition. I was met in the lot with a key to show the car. They had a 3K markup taking the car to $50K, but came back down to MSRP minus Kia incentives, and encouraged me to test drive the car. The car drove quite nicely and was very responsive. The Indigo edition is basically a GTS, it has most of the GT1 features I wanted except for the added safety. The color combination is nice, but more luxury that sporty for sure. The dealer experience was good, but I can't imagine dropping more than $40K for a Kia, or any new car really considering the massive depreciation. Are people really getting $37K deals on a $47K MSRP car?

You have to find the 2019 if you want a good deal. The indigo is a special limited edition, not the best battle to chose if you look for a bargain.

Haggling over a Limited is a lost cause.

Keep looking. The One will be waiting for you. Welcome to the forum!

Dealer I got my GTS at had it marked up to 52k, 5k over sticker. Basically told them I'm not driving an hour to see the car until it's not marked up. Took 2 weeks of the car sitting in the showroom not moving, and I got the call.

Generally the auto sales market is still pretty slow, you might have to wait a couple weeks, but give the preliminary call/visit to show you're interested, then tell them you don't like the price, good chance they will come down with some time as it sits on the lot.

Also, any dealer that gives you that BS of "we don't normally let people drive this car," remind them that you think it's stupid to pay that sum of money without even knowing if you like it (need a test drive). Maybe throw in that you're cross shopping against competitors (Audi's, BMW's), that may incentivize them to smarten up.

because they don't normally allow test drives of Stingers.

My answer to this... "oh, I guess you don't normally sell stingers, do you know a dealer who is interested in selling one? and send a polite email to the owner and sales manager telling them they lost the sale...

I have seen Stinger GTs in various form greatly reduced in ads, I believe on Autotrader. The dealer I bought my new 2019 GT2 in January is offering 2020s for just a few thousand more than I paid, and I got mine for about $12k off MSRP. This being said, there appears to be limited inventory of new cars at many dealers here in SoCal.

I told my dealer I didn't need to drive the car before we negotiated as I had already driven 3 of them. He insisted I drive it anyhow. It was a nice test drive loop FWIW.

I got my white gt2 rwd considerably under sticker back in November.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I find the right car. I did like the indigo special edition, but was looking for a white or grey GT1. The dealer with the indigo upped the trade in offer by 2k, but I am still looking for a little better deal off msrp. The indigo is growing on me.

In order to give you the best advice can you tell me what other cars are you strongly considering as well? And how much is your budget?

The G70 is nice, but a little smaller than I want. Same with the Guilia, and the reliability factor is too risky. Outback XT is the most practical choice, but not exciting at all. I don’t want an SUV, but need room for four. Don’t think I want another Audi either. Don’t want to pay over $40k.

My best advice is to break the car in to two sections. Dealer price before rebates and then the rebates. This will give you an idea of whether your price is a good deal or not.

For my 2020 GT1 RWD with a sticker of 47,080 I was able to talk the dealer down to 44,839 plus "move" another $1,500 to my trade. So it is entirely in the realm of possibility to get a GT1 RWD for $43,339 if not a little better depending on the day.

So from the get go the savings are at $3,741 which is about 8% off MSRP. I'll put that in the Good category. Great would be getting around 10% off. I took mine simply because I know there are not many left in my configuration for 2020 and with Covid that isn't likely to change for the better any time soon.

Then look at the rebates. For a purchase (through July 6th) you can get $3500 dealer cash + $1,500 trade assistance (not the same as above). There is also depending on models Lease cash available. My model was $7,800 + $750 trade assistance. GT2 have over 10k in lease cash available.

To sum it all up, you can probably do a bit better but here is what I was looking at for my GT1 RWD:

No-Trade:
Purchase: $3,741 + $3,500 = $7,241 off of MSRP
Lease: $3,741 + $7,800 = $11,541 off of MSRP

w/ Trade:
Purchase: $3,741 + $3,500 + $1,500 = $8,741 off of MSRP
Lease: $3,741 + $7,800 + $750 = $12,291 off of MSRP (this is what I got w/ the plan to buy out the lease asap)

I am pretty sure I did not get the absolute best deal, but I did get a good deal in my opinion. Depending on the model, days on the lot, lease vs buy, trade, etc, you may be able to do better and get anywhere from 12k-15k off.

Well seems that the Stinger is the only one it will fullfill your needs:
- You won't find me in a Alfa due to their reliability issues
- Subarus are plain boring, bland and ugly clearly not for car enthusiasts except 2 of their car lineup BRZ and WRX which will be raped by the GT2, Subarus have one of the most lack luster cheap looking interiors.
-Audi's yea they are good but their reliability is not impeccable and if something brakes it will be a money pit, plus there are Audis parked in every corner nowadays and the stinger is more exclusive in that sense.

It is funny you said you won't pay > 40k for a Kia but you are willing to pay that for a freaking Subaru, Fiat (Alfa Romeo) or A3? The Stinger is a another level its Kia's halo car, except the RS or R8 models from Audi the rest of their lineup are a dime a dozen no one gives a crap if you drive one.

Definitely the Stinger does not compromise in anything you got the looks, you got the head turns, you got the reliability, you got the performance, you got the huge space and practicality and you got the price, you can find a 2019 for 40 something if you are good in dealing with the dealers. Good luck to you!

we just purchased an indigo edition Monday. had talked to a dealer in Atlanta about theirs, who had it listed with a 3,8xx discount + 3500 KIA incentive or about 39k pre tax etc. Local dealer had it for 42.3k went in showed them the atl one and said I am planning on driving down to get that one unless they match or better it .. that was it, they said yes they will match. I'm sure a non special edition could have been brought down some more but i was happy and I couldn't be happier with the experience actually.. I normally hate dealing with car dealerships. Loving it so far...

Most definitely avoid all of what you mentioned except the G70. Coming from a G70 owner, the Stinger is more practical and will fit your needs better if you want the extra room.

The indigo blue is drop dead gorgeous. Saw one over the weekend at a car meet and it was beautiful.

Where did you get your indigo?

I’m finding the same thing in Jersey. They don’t want to move on these cars at all as if it’s some sort of rare collectors car. Terrible. I too am feeling the same way that these deals can’t be found in the Northeast, at least not right now. On top of that I know more than any dealer I speak with about the car. I had one tell me they drove both the GT1 and GT2 and the GT2 has an extra kick to it. What morons.
Keep in mind due to the pandemic there isn’t inventory flooding in to incentivize the dealers to clear the lots for newer cars. Once the manufacturing stream gets back they will drop. Unfortunately I need a car sooner than later.

Murfreesboro TN. I believe each dealer gets one indigo edition.
