• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Not sure where exactly to post this, but if someone in Houston who has a Stinger GT model who wants a super cheap exhaust upgrade, I’m willing to swap my used Borla S-Type Cat-Back exhaust system for your OEM exhaust. Yes I want to go backward I have loved my unmodified Borla system for a long while now, but I miss my original fuel economy and desperately need it back! I wish so badly that I had kept my OEM exhaust, but at the time I was trying to keep it secret from the wife So yeah just hit me up with which shop to meet you at and we can swap. My Stinger is fast as shit, but I really didn’t realize the true effect it would have on my fuel consumption.

Damn man I wish I were closer! I would totally swap you!

You won't improve your mpg from changing exhaust. It's the way you drive

Yes, OP listen to this! Your catback exhaust won't change your mpg. If you're getting rid of it for that reason, you are going to be sorely disappointed!

I have the 2022+ Borla catback on my car, and there has been no change in mpg compared to when I had my stock exhaust.

Do you have any other mods on your car? Those would possibly impact your mpg. Did you change your wheels and/or tires?

Really check your driving habits. You may have been driving more aggressively to hear the Borla exhaust. ;)

Well, I legit remember the colossal difference that I noticed after my intakes and exhaust were put on. It almost stunned me how fast my fuel needle dropped from just driving 20 miles. It most definitely has an effect. Because I did drive it for a while before I got the mods. HUGE difference. Even my bank transactions proved that I’m getting twice as many fill-ups than when I first got the car. I did my research because at first I thought it was just me confusing it. I KNOW it’s chugging that gas twice as fast.

Wow that's nuts. I am genuinely surprised. I have the exhaust only, no other mods.

Will be interested to see if other chime in with their experiences here.

I mean I suppose it could primarily be the intakes. I will put my stock intakes back on to see if that is actually it by itself and report back. If I cut off some of the incoming airflow, then it won’t matter that I have the Borla. Didn’t think about just swiching intakes back.

Hey wait… would the vallet parking map 8 on the JB4 be a fix all for this issue possibly?

Bro wait, you have a JB4? That's some pretty important information left out of the opening post lol.

Your JB4 tune (or lack thereof) can absolutely mess with your gas mileage. I think you need to list your mods.

EDIT: Also I won't be able to answer questions on JB4 but hopefully someone else browsing can answer.

My fault! I didn’t find it necessary because I removed the JB4 at one point for 3 weeks or so and still had the same terrible gas mileage. So I put it back on.

2021 Kia Stinger GT base
Mods:
K&N intakes
Borla Cat-Back exhaust
HKS Super Fire plugs
JB4

What exactly is your mpg? Exhaust or intakes will not affect your mpg. (Even if they do, it would be so minimal, there's no way you can notice that). Those are just a sound mods. Tune will definitely affect it. Wider tires will do that as well. But to cut it in half??... there must be something wrong with the car.

With my luck there probably is. I just started cruising to test out my MPG.

I got 18.3 - 20.6 mpg and I tried map 8 in addition to setting it to ECO drive mode and it restricted the turbos enough that I gained 6 - 8 mpg at 26.5 - 26.8 mpg. That’s much better! Thanks for your patience with me. Is there a way to rename the title of my post?

There is nothing wrong with 18-20 MPG. That's right in the expected range for normal driving. 26-28 MPG, that is spectacular, especially if that is combined city and freeway.

It's entirely based how you drive and how heavy your foot is. City driving in our Stingers are not great and freeway the Stinger MPG surprises me in a good way. With me running E30 there is not a change in MPG at all. For me I average between 21-27 MPG.
