I'm fresh to any types of modding in the car world, just finished rebadging and now I want to customize everything because my wife tells me I have an 'addictive personality'.

I love the Stinger look with black wheels, don't necessarily love how expensive a decent set of rims would cost. I also like the look of the OEM rims and want to go down the path of dipping them. I wanted to get a better idea of which product would be the best for my project. I think I'm leaning towards a glossier finish than matte but I don't really know what's available beyond the names of the products. Any fan favorites? Is there one that has an easier application process? Any tips/things I should look out for? Should I dip the wheels before or after buying the rear diffuser? Was the moon landing a conspiracy?

Welcome!

I have experience with Plasti-dip and Super Wrap. I personally prefer the finish of Super Wrap as they offer a much nicer gloss finish than you get with Plasti-dip + Glossifier.

Application wise, Plasti-dip is faster/easier to apply as it requires less coats.

I just finished doing some Camaro SS wheels in Superwrap Gloss black and they turned out beautifully.

Tips:
- It saves time to do all 4 wheels at once but you can also do two at a time if you don't have a means of suspending your car and removing all 4.
- Superwrap sells a Tape and Drape product that makes masking off the inner barrel of your wheels effortless. Superwrap | Tape & Drape | Spraying Tools and Accessories
- Prep time saves clean-up time. Use lots of painters tape to mask off the rubber. The more coverage the better as it can be hard to get the Superwrap off of the tires.
- Follow the directions. Especially the recommended distance away from the surface to spray the product. Common issue is people hold the rattle can too close to the surface of the wheel and it creates runs/drips.

Good luck!

We have seen some really good results on the forum from guys using Plasti dip, westcoastGT is one that comes to mind. I have 4 cans of black and just waiting for a rim to get a scuff fixed. Good luck:thumbup:

Could you post pictures of the finished product, please?
