Tried out some of the general g max summer tires. Was going through the Michelin’s in about 6000 miles where they would lose grip. If your car has any mods or a chip don’t try the general summer tires stick with Michelin . The general just spin and car get super Squirrley .thats what I get for trying to save a dollar. Lesson learned.

Yeah it's well documented that the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is the best road tire for dry traction. The Stinger gets the Pilot Sport 4 which is a close second. You could get Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires which have even more dry traction than the 4s but they will wear super fast, be noiser and sacrifice wet traction.

I just took of 4s they are great tires.but burned through two sets already only 10000 miles on car. Lots of going to Mexico and killing the tires.

You must drive your car really hard, do you track it?

Does anyone here get more than 10-12k out of the OEM rear tires?

I'm approaching 14k miles on my original set of the Pilot Sport 4. Tread seems to have some life left. I haven't done any research for life expectancy, but it totally depends on your driving. I'm driving the GT1.

I commute about 10mi one way each day, sometimes stop n go and sometimes cruising at 70mph the whole way. I'll take the car on the occasional evening fun run on the highway, but less-so these days to save costs on fuel..the only thing I wish could be improved with the car :P I've only used launch control a handful of times, I'm sure that has kept tread wear reduced compared to others out there.

Lots of mods done can’t control my right foot always in it . Lots of clear streets and track days in south Florida

In Canada Michelin has a 30,000km warranty on the Pilot Sport 4 tires, which is about 18,750miles. But I've found that tires rarely make it to their advertised warranties.

Be aware that the warrant is halve on staggered setup cars due to inability to rotate front to rear.

My goal of this thread was to say stick with Michelin’s. They grip the best.

They are the best imho, but you have to pay for that quality.

Yep I tried to save a buck on different summer tires .wrong choice. Live and learn.

How are y'all burning through tires so fast? I've got 10K on my PS tires, and there's easily another 2-3k more miles of tread left...

And y'all have to remember I'm modded and I've run the car hard for testing, lol

I just hit 10K, second set of tires. I track the vehicle at circuits.

I had 10K on my Michelins when I swapped them for the winter with Nitto Motivo A/S. I did about 5K during the winter. I've been on the Michelins since March and now I have over 20K, so probably c. 15K on the Michelins. I still have tread:

(edit: according to the treadlife warranty of 30K miles, halved for staggered setups, I have already passed the full warranty, i.e. according to Michelin, I have "gotten my money's worth" out of their tires. I agree, even though I think that summer tires are a bit of luxury and a conceit: why would any conserving person buy a set of tires rated to only go 30K miles, when they could have 65K UHP miles? That is the treadlife of the Motivos, which reduces down to 32.5K on a staggered setup.)

That wouldn't by any chance have been UHP Firestone Indy summers would it?

My car is easy putting out 500 hp and 500 plus pounds of torque. The Michelin’s are awesome but they only grip for about 4 to 5 thousand miles. I was just giving a warning on buying other summer tires. The general tires have a wear rating of 360 compared to 300 on 4 s. I didn’t think 60 points harder compound would have made a difference but it did.i mean at 40 mph I hit the gas and car breaks loose hard and fast. Michelin’s never acted that way.

Tire Compound to hard with general g max if car is tuned anywhere near 18 psi of boost or more. They just can’t handle torque like the Michelin’s do.

I am actually planning on going with a square setup when I get to the point of upgrading wheels/tires. This way I can rotate and get the full 30K warranty on a set of PS4S tires...well that and the more lively handling.

I plan to stay at stock power levels with this car (I just came from a 600hp car) so a set of 255 or 265 width tires at all four corners should be just fine.
