3.3TT Stumble on hard acceleration

This is most likely addressed with an ECU tune/swap

Mine sometimes stumbles on initial moderate acceleration also. Throws my head forward a bit. Not mashing the pedal and running 93 octane. Purchased some HKS plugs. Hopefully the regapped HKS plugs will solve this issue.

Mine cut power on me last week, took a left turning lane highway exit at ~35-40, and when I put my foot back into the pedal, I had nothing. (Hard brake before, coast through, power coming out) Pulled back for a second and eased into it, and I had power again.

Though now that I think about it, that one was probably traction control. I'm assuming the car didn't want me to let me drift around that turn with TC and Stability on in comfort. My first RWD, and my first car with this much power, so I'm not quite mentally 'in tune' with the car yet.

As far as straight line power goes, I notice some jumping sometimes, but that's probably because I have a bad habit of not planting my heel. When I gun it, the acceleration pulls my foot off of the pedal, and that confuses the shit out of the car.

I have the same problem, on a brand new 2022 GT2. Hit the gas pedal, on the right or left side, and it feels like a stuttering claude-hopper, is under the hood! It's almost. to the point of dangerous.

It took a real expert, to define the problem!
I live near a race track, and I stumbled on an expert, who knows turbos, very well, having a turbo BMR and a hand full of Turbo Track Racing Cars!

I am surprised that the dealerships' do not tell everyone this revelation, prior to selling a customer a turbo engine, with multiple drive modes.

When you drive, in the "eco-mode", it literally chokes the turbos, to create gas economy!
Switch it to "sport mode" and you won't ever, get that annoying, dangerous-stuttering, when you accelerate from a stop sign.

^^^ I love this place. Here I have even started a thread asking this very question: commented on several other threads also asking about this, and here is a thread that barely predated my arrival on the forum, which I have never seen. Along come a thread necromancer and his intro post is all about the stuttering/chugging/stumbling under acceleration question. :D My issue started last October: I'm due in for an oil change in less than two hundred miles, and I'm going to ask them to check the plugs for any fault: I'll ask if the new plugs I had put in have a different gap than the plugs that they pulled at c. 45K miles.

For not being a car guy, I do, apparently possess intuition: I thought that drive mode might be affecting the turbos. And so I've experimented with Sport mode only for the hard accelerations: with inconsistent results. Most of the time there is no "stumbling" on initial acceleration: but sometimes I still feel it, though in Sport not as noticeable as in any other drive mode. Always initial acceleration: never any WOT issues once the first one or two seconds pass and it smooths out. That's why I don't think that it's a plugs issue. But I am going to describe this and ask them to check the plugs, since that is the only change I've made: and for the first 45K miles I've had a perfectly smooth performer under all conditions and in all situations and all drive modes.

Welcome to the forum.

Drive mode doesn't "choke the turbos", it changes air/fuel mixtures and electronic throttle response curves. These things also likely translate to a change shift points for the transmission, because everything works in unison in a modern vehicle.

Any sudden change in throttle input requires adjustments made very quickly on the fly, which results in some perceivable lag on the part of the driver. Rattling and spitting/sputtering need to be brought to a deal/repair shop to fix. Anything else is likely the result of not owning an actual sports car.

We are obviously not driving the same car, cause I switched from the "eco-drive mode" to "Sport-drive mode" and there's no hesitation whatsoever, now. Perhaps you are one of the "believers" who adjusted your spark plug gaps. Either way, I would hate to see you in a race, with the TURBO race car driver / Turbo. mechanical engineer, who announced these revelations, unless I was gonna bet against you. :). I love your avatar name though, why would you call yourself stoopid? Are you suffering from an "Echo-Drive Mode" inferiority complex? :) Or are you fishing? Hehehehehehe!

I'm sorry, who the f%@^ are you?? I'm a regular here, with more than newb knowledge and experience. You need to re-read my post, and find the error in your reply, and apologize or go f$^@ off.

Welcome to the forum, prick.
