3.3TT Stock Exhaust Pic

From what I read branch resonators move the drone outside frequently used rpm ranges... It doesn't really eliminate it all together. There is a company that makes them as add ons on YOU TUBE .

Are you speaking specifically about Ark's catback or about branch resonators in general?

I know StingerGTandme said his Ark drones a bit at hwy speeds. Hopefully that isn't the case with ALL exhausts using branch resonators since I just bought a Thermal R&D catback specifically because they focused so heavily on eliminating drone (and because it isn't conversation/music killing loud).

@Thermal is there a certain range in the speed/RPMs where drone should be expected with your catback or have the resonators been used to effectively eliminate the drone completely?

The Ark exhaust specifically. I’ve not experienced the drone to be annoying - yet.

I think the Ark exhaust's sound (outside of the car) is my favorite. I was very close to buying it and then I watched the entire video review of the sound and shied away when he mentioned drone at hwy speeds.

My main goal is eliminating restrictions in the exhaust. Doing so at the risk of having drone in the 1500-2000 RPM range was out of the question (translation: my wife would have killed me!).

Having driven cars with both the Borla and Ark exhausts, the Ark (IMO) has the better sound and less drone. The damn hatch rattle frustrates me more than anything the exhaust produces. I’ve only had it on for a few days, I’ll add more observations as they come to awareness (or become annoying). I do enjoy having a car that has a real exhaust note now.

After having my Borla exhaust a week, I have totally fallen in love with it. It appears to drone less than the SGT video makes the Ark drone. At first it kinda annoyed me but now I cannot get the grin off. Sound is relative too I guess. I don't consider this a drone as much as a growl.
It has grown on me. I had several exhausts on my Porsches that had real drone, so this is minor in comparison.

Edit: I stated something that I believed right, now changed my opinion, there is more drone/growl (but I like it). The Borla does not drone less than the SGT video shows- I've not heard an Ark exhaust from inside the car.

That said, I still think a bypass type muffler (as Force varex allows) makes for the best of both worlds, and may still be in my future:) It still may...

Well, I rewatched that SGT video and took mine for a few spins again, I was wrong. The drone (growl) is much more noticeable with my Borla GT than the Ark system. Not saying I don't like it, but it's there 1500-2000 as it rolls through the rpms. I really wanted an exhaust to hear, I can hear the Borla. What is funny is it's not loud outside, it is louder inside the car.

BUT, I got that stupid crimp removed (even if it had a purpose).:D

The Ark certainly does not drone from 1500-2000 RPM. Only had it 2 days but only noticed a hint of droan (resonant boominess, by my definition) once on the highway at 1800 RPM. Drove on the highway again today and didnt have any drone. Its quiet for a straigjt through exhaust but straight through exhausts are never quiet. Sounds so good its bound to kill gas milage and drive up the tickets.

Correcting myself.....i went on a long highway drive today and the drone can be a bit much in the 1500-1900 range . At 1900 or 2000 it quiets down. I just noticed Ark says its 87db at 3000, wonder what it is at 1700 rpm?
Ended up drivimg in sport most the time to keep the rpms up . MPG didnt seem to suffer.

There are decibel meter apps available for smart phones that might prove helpful to figure it all out!

I drove to work this morning with the DB phone meter running. Drive is 7 miles 3/4 freeway, freeway mostly slight down hill. DB according to the app was mostly 65-68 db at 65 MPH. I tried a few RPM ranges like 1500 up to 3000 and the DB didn't really change so it is more of the tone. After hearing someone's homemade magnaflow axle back clip, now that is drone! Ark doesn't really drone its just a touch loud and the 1500-1900 range on the highway doesn't have the best sound. :) Max db was 80 during a short WOT pull as my phone ejected itself out of my cup holder and into the back seat. Before that pull the max db was 79.

Love the part about the phone...LoL ...car has awesome acceleration...

Xforce is working on a Varex cat back for the Stinger with a release in late Fall. (I read on the forums summer so I guess it slipped out). This has the baffle controllable via fob or optional controller that attaches to your ODB port where you can program the baffle by throttle position and RPM.

Isn't there one already out there, i swear i've seen a youtube video with xforce controllable exhaust.

This is a "Tony's" custom. You can buy these mufflers today and make your own. But Xforce is making the full catback for the stinger late fall. I decided having wires to my muffler, a fob or phone app is a bit much so just going to replace the muffler on my Ark with a Flowmaster DBX aka "Hush Power". Arkmaster exhaust will be on next Wed. The DBX is essentially a straight through canister but has some mesh cones inside to deflect more sound in to the sides. Fingers crossed. Just need to take the sound down a notch or two.

Interesting. After having a variable system with remote on my previous ride I won't buy another exhaust kit without it. Until someone makes a decent one, they're not getting my business.

Anything new on that front, guys? I'm looking for an aftermarket catback with as low drone as possible. Would like some advice

Hi guys

Do we know what is the diameter for the piping of the stock exhaust line? (internal diameter)

Like

Primary downpipe : ?? inches
Secondary downpipe : ?? inches
Mid pipe : ?? inches from the secondary DP to the resonator
Mid pipe : ?? inches from the resonator to the end pipe
End pipe : 2.0" inches from the mid pipe to the muffler
End pipe : ?? out of the muffler

Is anyone able to fill some of the blanks? Is it 2inches all the way??

Also another question:
There seem to be no merge point between the both exhaust lines, is that correct? (no H-pipe or X-pipe)
