I've been trying to find a picture of the stock exhaust for a while.

Anyone have one they can share?

You mean as in underneath the car or the unit as a whole?

Either. I just want to see how long the resonators are. I've seen a pic of the exhaust off the car before but I can't find it now .

I have the stock exhaust in my garage. I can take a pic of it for you. What in particular did you want a close up of?

Main focus is the resonators. But I guess a pic of the entire exhaust will help out anyone searching for it in the future.

Thanks.

Someone posted pics of the stock exhaust next to an aftermarket exhaust on another forum yesterday. If anyone is wondering here is what the stock exhaust looks like (in pieces).

@JustThatPenguin Can you tell us the length of the stock resonators?

Once I stopped looking I started finding. Here's another that was posted on another forum.

Anyone have any idea why they crimped the entrance pipes of the mufflers? Seems odd...

Does the crimping quieten the exhaust?

And Sarge, how are you liking your borla?

The crimps are just below the differential, crimped to allow extra movement of the rear axles.

The Borla system (nor others) have these crimps. At least the ones I've looked at.
If you look closely where the 2 pipes merge (just behind cats), this area also looks quite restricted compared to most others.

I have the OEM system sitting out in garage if anyone needs any specific measurements or pics, I had a Borla system installed yesterday also. Just lemme know.

I found an article written about the Camaro SS's exhaust. It's crimped in the same place as the Stinger's and apparently it's a hot topic on the Camaro forums.

So these people did an experiment to determine if there was a sound/power difference between the stock exhaust with crimp and without. They did 3 dyno runs of each and then showed the differences on this dyno sheet.

He also notes that the sound difference is barely noticeable and adds that the crimp may actually help control drone.

Here's a pic of their crimp.

And the article.

Care to measure the length of the stock resonators?

No problem. 15-1/2" weld to weld.

Can take close ups or better measurements if anything is needed, just a few feet away...

Whats the length of the body of the resonator? Looks like the tapered ends are maybe 1.5 inches on each sides?

That is interesting. The workers at the muffler shop were talking about that same article, but I was already in possession of my Borla. I don't know the physics of it all, but wanted more sound, I got MORE.

It'll be a while before we know which systems are best, we will make wrong choices, or more likely often choices would be different later. Is part of it. Not the last wrong decisions I'll make :)
