Dealer Markup Stingers Still Being Marked Up Over MSRP

I looked at some Stinger GT lines yesterday, I looked at the prices on line and then went a dealer. When I looked at them on the lot each had a $3500 Adm. fee added to the price, these Adm. fees were not shown in the sales price on line. Dealers like it the way it is now they save money on not having to pay tax on all the cars on there lot each month and save money on having less sales people. I am seeing dealers reporting record profits with less sales. Paying MSRP and above hurts your purchase as the car depreciates even more as when you overpay that price is not where the clock starts ticking on your cars value.

I've posted on another discussion thread, but I went to the dealership and saw a 2023 Ceramic Silver GT2 for $62,000 before taxes and additional fees. They marked the car up ~$10,000. Out the door pricing would be near $70,000. And this was not the Tribute Edition.

Sounds like about 56K? MSRP not a markup so you did pretty good.

Sounds like about 56K? MSRP not a markup so you did pretty good.

Awd is also around 2k higher msrp. I'm too lazy to look up rn, but 53k rwd 55k awd sounds about right in the back of my head.

After 3k in taxes and the sort, if he got 56k otd, he's pretty solid.

From my my observations most GT2's in the midwest at high volume KIA dealerships are being offered with 2 to 3k discounts off MSRP. I have kept track of the "Stealerships" in my area that have shown their greed in the past 18 months with unreasonable markups and will obviously never look their way in the future. Greed is good - I think not.

Purchased my '23 Panthera Metal GT2 for MSRP last week in NJ. Dealership at 5 or 6 available. Most GT2 and a GT-line. They tried to add accessories but quickly removed them when I balked. I also had a lease turn in that they took as a trade a month early for $1000 more than I owed.

I agree with the 2 to 3K discounts on line but when I go to the dealers lot they have $3500 adm. fee markup on the sticker next to the original window sticker. How they can advertise one discounted price online and then be actually selling it for more in person doesn't sound right to me.

Dealers in Oz are marking the car up to $91K but there are still enough coming in where the drive away price is still $72K if you shop around. Equivalent USD is $47665.

Note Australia doesn't get the AWD version but all extras are included. Bembro brakes. 19 in wheels, Michelin tyres. active everything. electric everything, heated and cooled everything. 15 speakers, sunroof ( a cow died for my car) Nappa Leather.............3.3L twin turbo.

I don't think I have ever seen a 4 cyl version......

What did the final out the door pricing come to? Was it above $60K USD?

Purchased my 23 GT2 AWD Ceramic Silver with red interior package for ~$2k below MSRP at Foundation Kia in Wheat Ridge Colorado about a month ago. Talked them into giving me an extra $2k for trade in on my 21 Sorento SX Prestige X-Line in the deal as well. I’ve noticed dealers in the Denver area have been struggling to get them sold lately. Managed to get in just in time for Kia’s 3.49% @ 60 months financing offer so all in all it was a great deal at the right time. Shopped for the exact same car last year and they were all marked up above $60k before tax. Glad I waited.
