STINGER TUNING

No

This device appears to work like other “boost modifiers” on the market. They “trick” the ECU into thinking there is less “airflow” than there should be based on the current boost request. So to compensate the ECU ups the boost to get the “airflow” back to the target. I guess you could also trick the ECU into thinking there is too much “airflow” and get it to cut the boost to decrease “airflow”. Not sure that would have a big impact on fuel economy like the site claims. But without tapping into “fueling controls”, eventually (say at the highest knob setting), you will throw an overboost code, send the engine into limp mode, etc. This overboost threshold is also impacted by ambient temperature, altitude, quality of fuel, etc.

Would that also be considered a "piggyback" tune?

Yes, I would put it in that category. The "base" model for lack of better categorization. Other piggyback units will "intercept" more signals (camshaft, airflow, boost, fuel pressure, etc.) giving better driveability with your increased performance.

I had a piggyback tune on my "N54" twin turbo BMW 335i - and it worked really well. It drove like stock until I hit the gas hard...

BMS has a pretty large following in the BMW community and is getting pretty big in the VAG community as well. Not sure if that is what you used.

I know that there are more "advanced" (alters more than just boost) piggyback units for the 1.6T and 2.0T Hyundai/Kia engines already on the market. As far so I know none exist for the 3.3T in the G90 (or G80). But with the Stinger having hit the market in Korea already, it is only a matter of time.

Yes, BMS. Burger Tuning. I had a JB+ and JB3 or 4 - I forget now. But they worked out really great. The JB+ was a five minute mod that made a reasonable difference. The JB3/4 brought the car into the 12s. I miss that car...

I'm sure we're going to see some really great tunes for the twin turbo 3.3! There are plenty of reasons to produce tunes and aftermarket performance parts: G70, G80, G90, Stinger and surely more to come...

I would say the unit in the OP is akin to the JB+.

The units I mentioned from the Korean market are more JB1 than JB4 (no ODBII connector, gauge control, etc.)

The G90 demographic might not be teaming with folks itching to mod (some might) but a higher percentage of the G70, G80 Sport, Stinger GT, etc. community will likely be ready to dive in. I have no doubt an SUV will see this engine sooner rather than later as well. So maybe there are not enough 3.3T's out in the wild just yet to drive demand, but there likely will be come 2018.

Absolutely. There will be very few G90s owners looking to upgrade anything. It'll be more of a G80 thing and MUCH more of a G70 thing. There are practically no 3.3s out there at this point - but I'm sure it'll be a very popular option over the next year or two. It would be crazy for tuners to overlook the market potential of this setup...

That really true???

That's amazing - but how do they have a Stinger already?

I found it on Facebook.
I was also a bit sceptical but it seems that they've been doing this for a while. Their name is deceiving but they are located in Korea supplying the US market. I also found a thread on the Hyundai Genesis forum writing to members about what the offer.
Seems legit. Look them up on Facebook.

Okay, so that's it. Yes, the NAME is deceiving. I thought they were in the U.S. Okay, so being their from Korea makes much more sense. I'm glad to see they're working on this! Very exciting. I hope they pop in here soon to talk about their plans...

Sub 4 sec and 600hp not too far away now. Tuners will be all over this car, both 4 and 6 cylinder models. Awesome!

Okay, I am getting excited. Anybody know what the modifications are? Just a tune or any other supporting mods?
