Stinger GT vs Charger RT Scat Pack ............nice article

I saw that earlier. Good article. I've put a couple Scat packs to shame, so that shows it's not all about the bigger engine these days

I loved my 2015 SRT Charger and was set on finding another when I happened upon the Stinger GT. I love both of these cars.

Yet, the Stinger wins out for its fuel economy, design, handling, technology, warranty and spaciousness from the hatch. With my tune, I've beat several SRT and scat pack Chargers. Absolutely no regrets buying this Kia.

Stinger won me. I knew about Chargers already, and the host of other muscle and performance cars. Only the Stinger put everything together in a retro way to make a Gran Turismo. This line: "And the Stinger's smooth ride is accented by its quieter engine, making it my clear choice for long-distance drives." That, plus looks and practicality/utility is what finally made me get one.

But, cops around these parts like the Charger as a patrol car. I saw a black and a white yesterday on our way to the Uinta Mountains.

I don't see how the Stinger wins on hatch space - the trunk on the Charger seemed HUGE, and my wife is worried about not being able to fit enough luggage for our upcoming trip to Tahoe.. We usually take the minivan, but I want to drive my new stinger..

Take the privacy lid out. I did that for a trip up to central California and I fit everything my wife and I needed for a week away. Along with my two little ones in the back seat also

I like the Chargers but the design is almost 14 years old now. They have made some changes and tweaks but in essence they have retained the overall look since they launched the retro inspired look. Also just like zee Germans, to get the Dodge Scat up to the same feature level as a GT Limited (GT2 in the US) you are looking at a big up-charge.

I picked up my limited for $47,000 with a sticker price of $52,600. A Charger Scat Pack starts at $51,000 but building one on the Dodge Canada site to get all the tech and features of the Stinger, I ended up at $71,360. You can but a new BMW 3 series or Audi A5 for close to the KIA as well, but if you want any options at all that is where the money starts flowing.

The Asian automakers just get it when it comes to trim levels and standard features. My previous ride was an Acura RDX. When I leased that one I drove everything in the class and same thing. My RDX Elite was $48,000. Base X3 was $47,500. X3 with all the options on my RDX $68,000.00

Yeah, I was planning on that.. Just removes ALL visibility out the back..

I am currently driving a charger gt (rental), with 300 hp I can spin wheels. It's fun for few days but after that it is just stupid. I am just waiting for my stinger.

Will be great to get those Dodge's 'down under'. We have the Camaro and next year will be the Corvette so just need the Challenger and Chargers now.

Yeah, this is why I got the Stinger in AWD. I don't need a smoke machine - tires are expensive enough :-)

The Scat Pac comes with the 485 hp V8 Hemi. The Stinger is a full level up in terms of comfort, looks and luxury, but the Hemi is an outstanding motor.

Having said that, CKeeler, what do you mean by "put to shame"? If you did a roll on the Scat Back Charger is going to put a couple of lengths on you. I ran one the other day and you cannot compensate for the HP difference.

Your car would need modifications to beat the NA Hemi V8. Yes, the stock 3.3 Stinger will walk the Challenger/Charger 6 banger and lesser V8 motor, but not the Hemi.

From northern California to Tahoe? All you need is a couple pair of underwear, two extra pairs of socks, and a toothbrush. All of your luggage should be able to fit in the glove compartment.

Just to be clear, the Hemi Charger wins the motor battle. The Hemi is a legendary motor, known for performance and durability. I have never been a Dodge guy (worst interiors EVER) but that motor is amazing.

In 10 years our 3.3 motors may become legendary. We will see. Right now the Charger wins there and the Stinger wins every where else. I looked at a Scat pack before I found my Stinger. Go drive one, then drive the Stinger and inside its night and day. While I like the Charger, it is not in the same class as the Stinger.

That exhaust is glorious, I will say that.

Just to update - managed to fit everything in and lay the privacy lid on top loosely until we unpacked at the hotel. Took a bit of "massaging" to get everything back in on the return trip, since it had gotten repacked, but I managed to make it fit and it was SO worth it. Letting the Stinger loose between Placerville and South Lake Tahoe (in both directions) was glorious! I can't imagine what it'll be like after adding the jb4.. Around 1750 miles now, will get the 1st free oil change soon, and then look at some mods.

Mostly agree - but I think the Charger SRT narrows that margin some - adjustable suspension that's a little better, as far as I've read, those MASSIVE brakes, the Performance pages, line lock, etc. They definitely have more features for the enthusiast than the Stinger. OTOH, I got several looks on my trip - one guy in a Lexus IS nearly broke his neck looking back :-)

Well, I did pack lighter than usual, but as it turns out, could have still packed less. However, with kids along, can't quite do it like the old days..

Yeah, I was gone for a few days with my wife and kids. The entire trunk filled up to the rear window.

I cross shopped the charger scats before deciding on the stinger gts. I was going to wait to get the 2020 widebody but after eyeing the stinger for some time, and just a more pleasant driving experience, I chose the stinger. Here are my pros to each-

Stinger’s acceleration felt more spirited and smooth. It just goes and doesn’t get upset. It also feels quicker.

The charger has a glorious exhaust note (I have a Durango rt also and the exhaust burble during shifts is awesome)

Stinger has better interior materials, and so far I’m happy with the transmission.

The chargers zf8spd is a wonderful transmission and the 8.4” Uconnect is a wonderful system, more user friendly and responsive than Kias.

Both are great touring cars, but the stinger gave me a bigger smile and I was looking forward to owning my first foreign vehicle. So far I am very happy with the choice, but I can appreciate both equally. Being a true old school car enthusiast I can find great aspects of just about anything.

I like the scat pack hemis, heard one jump on it today and yes, the sound is glorious. And I don't kid myself, I actually ran one and he put nearly 2 lengths on me.

However, as a daily the Stinger is far better choice. The Chargers interior is improved from bad to better than expected (IE mostly bad). The comfort setting of the Stinger is indeed a surprisingly luxurious affair. I find the sport mode to be very different in a good way.

90% of my driving is cruising around taking my son to wrestling practice and the like. 10% is peddle to the metal and coming up on sweepers hot. If it were the revers I would take the Charger.

What I would REALLY like is a Stinger for daily, and a Hell Cat for the weekend.
