Stinger build page is active

These absurd compromises aren't specific to Kia. It seems like every time I come across a car that I like...or that is good enough to take a look at...I am unable to configure it how I would like. The frustrating option choices seem to afflict American and Asian brands the most though. More often than not, I can configure one of the German competitors more closely to how I would like the vehicle. It's not just the luxury German models either. VW seems to offer many more configuration options across trim levels. Maybe this is where Kia should be trying to beat the Germans.
Interestingly I find it exactly the opposite, the reason I've had an Optima and now a Cadenza is I've been able to get exactly what I want without adding a whole bunch of bundled nonsense I don't want, having $5000 added in a package where all I want is a sunroof or a better sound system. From what I can see the Stinger has taken that advantage and tossed it in the trash, if you want a sunroof you have to move to a higher model, it can't be added, color combos are all over the place, I mean you can get a gray interior in a white Premium but not in the top of the line G2, WTH? It appears they hired the Lexus folks to determine their models/specs/equipment, forgetting at the end of the day it's still a Kia, and car snobs won't take a second look no matter what the configuration is. I think they're in for a rude awakening, people are not going to be lining up to fork over $40,000 for a 4-cylinder missing options a $30,000 Optima has.

The 2018 Regal configurator is live today as well. It is just as, actually more, disappointing, but they didn't build up my hopes like Kia did. The only solace with the Buick is that I can get ventilated seats at the $39,000 level and the sunroof is a standalone option on the top trims. I live in Florida, so ventilated seats are worth more to me than heated seats. I'm also more familiar with GM pricing and know there will be a 15-20% discount coming at some point, at least half of which is because the car is priced higher (possibly too high) out of the gate. I'm not as familiar with the Kia discounting policy. I still need to see the Buick in person to ascertain the quality of the interior....but if Lacrosse to Cadenza is any indication the Regal will be at a disadvantage and the NA V6 will be down on performance. It will likely be much easier to obtain parts considering the number of vehicles GM produces with this engine. Still a decision to make...I thought Kia was going to knock it out of the park and make it a no-brainer for me.

A fully loaded Buick Regal GS goes for $43,310, not a bad price really. I was dead set on a Stinger but that Regal is about 10 grand cheaper with about the same level of equipment albeit not quite as sporty.
Welcome aboard, @medellon! Thank you for signing up. I just loaded up a Regal GS Sportback for $45k. Did you add the $1000 moonroof? In any event, I would not argue with anyone who chose the Regal. It really is a nice car. Not nearly as exciting as the Stinger, in my opinion - but quite nice. Luxurious, probably very quiet inside - really nice...

Oh shoot I did forget that moonroof but still a pretty good deal. Both brands have their negative connotations, KIA being a "budget" brand and Buick being a car for "old folks." I don't car about that stuff though as long as I enjoy the car. I may wait and see what the Genesis G70 brings to the table.

It's nice to see the build page is available but I'm not getting excited until I start seeing the car at dealers. There are still too many question marks. This is one crazy rollout for a car that's I think so important for Kia. But through all the mess I have not lost interest. The Stinger is still the top car on my shortlist.

So I just went and clicked the COMPARE link and lo and behold Panthera appeared under the GT trim level only. I might have missed it but I didn't see it yesterday. Also Red Interior along with black is available across the entire GT1 trim colors. Light Gray, Red and Black interiors across the GT2 trim colors. Also, beige leather interior is available on the Premium but not on GT, GT1 or GT2. I don't recall beige being available yesterday either. There's a couple other differences to note so go check it out.

is there a real release date yet? Audi A5 is almost 7000$ off this week.

I have no idea what you're looking at, you say a red interior is available across the GT1 line? The build tool indicates red with either black or silver only, black is the only choice with the other 4 colors. As to the G2 red is available on 3 of the 6 exterior colors, try it yourself. As to the premium and beige leather yeah I don't see that at all, only color available other than black is light gray on a white, one of us is in left field without a mitt.

My Cadenza lease is running out on 1-24, I want to replace it with a new Stinger but I'm one of those weirdos who wants what he wants since I'm going to be living in the thing for the next 36 months. I won't settle, it's going to suck if I have to pull the trigger on a different vehicle only to have my color combos surface shortly thereafter.

We're interpreting the information differently, just because they have 3 colors listed for a build doesn't mean that all would be available for all exterior colors, at least that's my take (I could be wrong, of course).

I went through the compare selections one by one and the interior colors were available (or not) depending on the trim and exterior colors.

I just looked again and it's definitely behaving differently than it was yesterday when I messed around with it. SCREW THIS MAN! Kia get your s%$ together! Lol

Now I'm waiting for the lease prices to appear, if you use the price calculator for the Premium model it shows $607 a month for 66 months, but no lease price appears yet. I lease, am paying $388 for my Cadenza at present (36 mos), how the heck someone can fork over over $600 for 66 months for a $40,000 car is something that leaves my jaw slack.

Actually sounds like a great rate.
607 x 66 = 40,062
If the car costs 40k that is basically 0% interest.

I'm with you. Leasing just seems so much better to me.

Oh it's definitely a great rate, but I think that if you get a good lease deal it would be much less expensive. I don't know what most people do, but after 2-3 years, I'll likely get bored and get a new vehicle anyway so leasing is what I plan to do for the rest of my life. I just don't see the value in buying cars for the way I like to upgrade. I buy my wife's vehicles because that's where we put the majority of the miles.

I like to keep cars for at least 10 years, so I always buy. I was thinking I'd just put like 25k down on this but if the interest is that low there's no reason to.
