Stinger 2.0 Theta II Fuel Pump Recall

Back from my fuel pump TSB, called an "OFECM software logic improvement". Was told that if the pump itself doesn't indicate any failure, doesn't throw a code P0088, then the ECM logic is updated, improved, "as per KIA spec", and this interfaces with the fuel pump. I asked about the sticking valve in the pump itself and was told that without an obvious manifesting problem - code P0088 - they do not just replace the fuel pump as part of this. Sounds reasonable to me. Ima glad my fuel pump has not shown any signs of being one of the rare crapped out ones.

Good to know. I got the follow up notice too. Our 2.0T has been running great so I really don't expect them to do much with it, which is why I'm not in a big hurry. I'll probably wait till I take it in to have them replace the TPMS sensors on the stock wheels. They are currently our back up set of track tires, so don't get used much. Just need to do it before 5yr warranty runs out later this year.

Mine started having issues after the car warms up, when you press gas pedal fully at any speed it jerks, RPM goes to max but car does not accelarate at all, it happened at 20mph and even at 70mph

Shown at the dealer, dealer said need a new transmission even though there have been no cranky sound coming from transmission

Next day started the car and it stuttered after 10seconds, towed it to same dealership was told need to replace fuel pump now (which I was suspecting was the problem from start and not transmission). Fuel pump is on back order now, will not be available until 2 months later. It is sad to not see my stinger for 2 months. They gave me forte as rental though
