3.3TT SSR Performance Dual Front Mount CAI - PRE-ORDER SPECIAL! (pics/vid inside)

mcemc, how many miles are on those? They don't look that dirty. I wonder if there's enough room to squeeze a vacuum in there to clean the filters, for those who think removing the bumper is too much of a PITA. I haven't made my mind up, myself. I'm mechanically inclined, but also lazy :p

Why cant I find any stinger stuff on the ssr website. Did they stop selling things for kia.

I see they have the pure turbo package on their. No idea why the rest of the Stinger products were purged.

That is sad, they seemed to have a good idea and a nice look.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
BWAHAHA! I like your style. Capitalist at heart!!

I think they will probably transition all their product development to the Supra.

... says every single tuning company in 2019. That car has a cult following, so I don't blame them.

replicate design, manufacture, sell x amount of units for an acceptable ROI, cash out, and go to the next project.

BINGO. SSR moved on from the stinger. This personally is the reason I refused to buy anything from them at the time. I knew they would cash in quickly and bail.

Personally, I didn't like the design of these intakes. This is almost the identical design I had for a product my G37 was used to R&D. The gains were minimal on an NA car and theoretically wouldn't have substantially larger gains on a turbo car. The path of travel is too long. They do have good products for BMW's, my cousin has a few items of their products for his M235. Although I still wooped up on him on 1/2 mile race from a dig...lol

The most exciting time for Stinger R&D/new parts/ideas/etc was spring and summer of 2018. Seems like every few days a new intake, exhaust, tune, aesthetic, etc mod was being introduced. Things plateaued long ago. Who can blame the manufacturers and vendors? They go where the money is. With the low volume of Stingers on the road and the even lower amount of people modding them the money just isn't there.

Just got asked that by another forum member as well.. here is what I told him:

"Applications very similar to these have been well tested in the rain, so unless you're driving through a hurricane / freakish storm.. you'll be just fine :)"

So as stated, behind grille applications like these have been used for years now on BMW's (a platform we happen to specialize in) and we have never seen issues come up. With test after test being performed on them and the intakes passing every time, there is nothing to be concerned about in normal conditions. As mentioned though, it probably isn't the smartest idea to drive through an insane storm with these on, or any other open element filter intakes, for that matter.

Does this CAI system have some type of air bypass valve incase the filters become saturated with water at highway speeds?
Any ETA on the release of this product I only get 404 errors for the links provided

They don't sell them anymore.

The black zip ties really bother my OCD. I'm gonna do some number crunching later regarding this vs a normal intake like BMS. Their site shows power gains but that is also with a JB4 91 map tune. But i'll look into it more later.

Curious how this would be against icing since I plan on driving my car in the winter, BC has fairly mild winters but I could imagine in a place like Calgary this intake would not be recommended? I remember with my old car on road trips I'd stop and have ice on the inter cooler.
Midwest thinking. Short ram intakes would give less power and heat soak. However, it won't freeze up in the winter.

Wow! I thought this manufacturer was out of the stinger game. I have a second hand set of SSR secondary downpipes paired with borla exhaust, it sounds and performs great! No one seems to know who SSR is when I tell them. lol.

As far as I can tell, they are still out of the Stinger game. This is a very old thread which was resurrected.
