I just bought a 2020 Stinger GT. After the first couple of days I noticed these little spots on my windshield. When the sun hits them they look like little chips in the glass. They are clear and you can feel them with your nail, but they are hard to get off, but the do come off with water. They are uniform across the windshield and sometimes show up on the drivers window. I thought they may be from the ac units on the cars ahead of me but I don't think so. Any ideas what this is and where it is coming from? I need to clean my windshield twice a day.

Take it back to the dealer & get them to polish your windscreen, these spots could be iron deposits from your car sitting in a yard for a length of time

They are clear about the size of a grain of salt. They are water soluble and disappear with a damp cloth. They are completely gone, then in about 10 minutes of driving they are back. They are evenly spaced across the whole windshield about an inch apart. Very weird there is not a concentration at one point they are all over. Has me baffled. Never seen it on any of my other vehicles ever.

I would say tree sap as I deal with it daily here. Looks like tiny diamonds on the windshield, hood, everywhere. It accumulates from just driving around where sap producing trees are present. That doesn't explain them being evenly spaced though....sorry no help here:confused:

I just finished dealing with this. For me they showed up after applying a ceramic wax. Everything was fine at first but when the windshield baked in the sun they popped up. A good scrub with a microfiber mitten and some car wash followed by drying with another microfiber towel made them go away.

Your description is very weird. I have seen the "evenly spaced diamonds" (to my eyes they look more like little triangles/wedges) since the beginning. But nothing that washes off and reappears. We talked about this before: and I opined then (still believe) that the pattern is part of the laminated acoustic glass. Is it cheap? I don't know. It only shows when, as you say, the sun is coming directly in through the windshield.

Today there were some along the window frame not on the glass, Only on the front as if I was driving through them..It is like when the guy in front of you sprays his windshield on the freeway and you drive through his window squirter spray, but the spots don't just evaporate away.

I live in San Diego Ca. and have hand washed the car twice since new about 3 weeks ago When they show up again and am sure they will I'll try to take a picture

Try Iron X fallout remover. It is a clear solution that turns purple when it contacts iron. First thing I did after my new purchase and it bled purple. Do it at the end of your driveway not the garage as it stinks, then rinse after a couple of mins. You can polish your windshield with a small pad and one directional strokes, like you are ironing, with Cerium Oxide. It’s a glass polish that comes in powder form. Mix it as directed with deionized water. It works, but turns into mud. You’ll need to Clean your windshield when you finish as it’ll be messy. After that, I applied 2 coats of Cquartz, then sprayed on Reload. I apply Reload once a month and don’t have any problems. The best part of this is when you drive in the rain. I don’t think I’ve ever used my wipers...Iron X, Cquartz, and reload are made by CarPro. Cerium Oxide is available on Amazon, try Gordon’s.

Thanks for the tip. I believe to was some kind of coating from the factory or dealer. After a few washes, it seems to have mostly gone away.

When it comes to tree sap removal, I finally found a product that works. Nitrile gloves strongly recommended. I’ve used it on glass and paint and the chrome bits with no ill effects:
