Lsst night hit a pothole at some speed (about 60 km/h or a bit higher).
OUCH
Decided to put on the spare. It is safer than my sorry looking bulging winter tire.

Now looking to buy just one of the Fast Switch rims - high prices unless buy 4 of them
Grrrrrrrr
Lesson learnt.
Slow down at night.
Keep sensible distance to car in front - even if d@#$heads decided you are leaving too much if a gap, so you can see any obstructions or dangers in front of you.
Don't be a Lemming.
Drive safe.

I bet your bulged winter tire would handle the c. 50 MPH recommended as top speed for the spare. But that was a good call.

Ouch indeed - good call on leaving a gap ahead of you (for many reasons), regardless of those who are driving up your tailpipe.

Your rim doesn't look to be broken/fractured, though - check into having a local rim repair outfit straighten it for you, at a reasonable cost. You'd be amazed at the work a good shop can do, so you wouldn't even know it was hit. Good luck!

That is a great option. Not one I had contemplated. I will look into that.
In the meantime, I have contacted the manufacturer directly to ask if they would consider selling me one directly instead of going through their supply chain.
I will let you guys know what I decide to do.
I still have to commute 80 km each way for work...
Life in the slow lane...

great option

Sorry to hear about your mishap. Had two sets of rims done by these guys, did a nice job ...

Let them have a look at your rim and assess it.

Of course, there are several more outfits in the business of repairing rims, pick the one that suits you.

Keeping your distance has undoubtedly several benefits, but you may also consider keeping tire pressure at somewhat elevated levels when running roads like yours.
I run 40lbs on all four.
Toi, toi, toi :)

Thx for the tip Hans.
I will contact them tomorrow plus my tire provider - and see who they recommend.
I cannot wait to be back to all square.
