Snowshoes

Thanks - too many choices for tires! You figured those Nexen are good value compared to the Xice, Conti, and Toyo?
I have no experience with other brands. I simply buy ones that I am comfortable with my research. I use them for almost half the year given the use of those summer tires and our cooler temperatures in spring and fall.

Hi Silverghost,

Just saw your post as I was researching for my winter setup. How did you like the tires? It's one of few that I am considering, however, the speed rating being V(faster) instead of H(slower), I was curious how it performed in heavy snow like one we had this past February in GTA. I am asking because of the H rating, I am guessing has more aggressive/deeper treads compared to the V.

I decided to not go with Costco and instead to shop locally with RNJ TIRE in Ajax.
After some checking I ordered a set of Nexen WinGuard Sport 2.
They have a speed rating of V - perfect.
What is even better is they charged me $700.00 for tires, mounting, balancing and installation of the TPMS sensors.
I am thrilled with that price.

RJN' s service even extended to putting one rim on just to satisfy my curiosity whether or not these Fsst Switch rims accommodate the Brembo brakes. Answer is yes they do.
Please see photos attached. I hope they are of interest to prospective Switch rim purchasers.
I will probably get a call tomorrow that they are all mounted and ready for pick-up.
I will pick them up.
It is too early to put them on the car. At least I am ready with the rims and tires.
It seems an easy task to switch winter and summer. I am considering buying a torque wrench, a garage car jack and a light socket to fit.
Anything else that I should consider before venturing down this road?
Your feedback is appreciated.

Hi Tkdojo
I chose these based on price as well as the speed rating.
This does not mean that I go crazy no matter the weather conditions. Quite the opposite. I bought these to be safe in our winter conditions. The tires worked very well in the snow - I did not have any "situations". They were also fine in the cold and dry roads.
I covered around 15,000 km on these last season and figure on the same again this year.
I am very happy with the choice that I made.
When they are due for replacement, then I will see what others have used and find something economical again...
I hope this helps.
