Slim Subwoofer

I gotcha, I had a optima with a 12" ported box before I got my stinger last year. I like the setup locations of the speakers, I really don't want to add a box in the trunk. Any recommendations? Has anyone upgraded the stock subwoofers with shallow mount subs?

Nobody has successfully improved the subs using the stock locations (aside from using an aftermarket amp on the OEM 200mm subs)

A very good solution is to add a single 8" sub like this

I first used a 12 inch sealed sub from pioneer in a very small box driven by 600 watts. Very easy to move it or remove it if necessary. It was exactly the right height to fit under the cargo cover and it improved bass significantly, I just got the itch for more.

So no plug-and-play replacement for the GT2's Harmon Kardon setup?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
yes i have a 7 mic summed freq rig that is very accurate for testing , bottom line they need more power to sound better , but you can replace those drivers with a better sub to gain even more output if needed . also they are running a true ib loading in the car using the frame rail for airspace that vents to the outside , lots of opportunity for better bass under the seats ,
I honestly am curious on what you would suggest to replace the stock underseat subs with?

As well, would you just replace the harmon kardon amp entirely and retune? or run the undereat subs through a new amp, leaving the stock HK one to handle the rest?

I already plan on adding some sound deadening as posted in other threads. I have abused the stock sound system pretty hard over the years, so I also am debating replacing all the speakers. want to keep the stock locations though.

i had a Kicker powered truck-style box in the Stinger for a little bit (had been recycled from my last two cars), but i wanted more trunk space.

i ended up putting in a spare tire powered sub, but it required some modification - it sticks up higher than the spare tire. i had to make a "false floor" using pieces of a pool noodle cut to various lengths to support the trunk floor to keep it level. i still lost 2-3" of trunk height, but it looks cleaner and i don't have a big sub box in the way of stuff i want to put in the trunk.
