I spoke to Shawn McAdam at Sands Kia in Surprise, AZ.

He would not give me an OTD quote on any trim, just starting MSRP and other fees. He began to talk about leasing and month payment affordability. I told him that I do not play games because I will not waste my time, and he asked what's the lowest quote have I received. I said you are the first to call. He responded to call him back once I shop around and he'll beat it other quotes by $500.00.

I do not think that I'll do business with him.

I spec my car out, write out a sheet with specs, tell them it's an ordered car, not a lot-car, and they have one bid chance, no dealing, no arguing over numbers. Cash deal (or in my case a finance/balloon = cash), no dealer installed options, no nothing but the car and the price. You are high and you lose. How badly do you want to sell the car? No test drive, no using your cars or your gas or salesman's time. 15 minute sale. How bad do you want to sell one? Hand them the sheet and tell them to think it over and I'll call them tomorrow. Works for me.

If we could be of assistance let me know. Zero games. Everything up front and not afraid to quote a Stinger!

To be honest, this surprises me. Sands Kia was by far the best dealer i dealt with during my "journey." I met/spoke with Chris Robertson and could not have been more impressed with honesty and professionalism showed to me. Ultimately they could not get me a yellow so i ended up elsewhere.

I also had multiple OTD quotes from them in email with ALL numbers accounted for. They did try to push a "desert protection package" that included tint, door guards, and paint pen, but that was quickly removed when i said, "that aint happening" with a grin.

Id call and ask for him and give them another chance. Had they had a yellow one, i would have purchased here.

Cheers

Since this happened in April this comment is really late to the game, but I experienced the exact same thing with Shawn at Sands over the last month. I live over 3 hours away, so it has to be worth it to make that drive. He just kept telling me the same thing about me trying to get a low quote from him that I could use closer to home. I planned to visit another dealer in the Phoenix area, and decided to risk it going to Sands due to the multiple promises of beating any price. Ended up talking to another salesperson, Scotty, and had a much more pleasant experience. I think I could have gotten a better deal if I would have walked out, but they did match the other OTD deal I had and so I went ahead and made the purchase. Couldn't be happier with my Stinger.

Short story, I agree with a Bad rating for Shawn.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
It is always risky when you shop by monthly payments. I know that is THE factor for many buyers, but you really need to start at MSRP, know your Dealer Invoice price (about $3,000 below MSRP plus or minus on most trim levels) and do not let them add expensive add-ons and insurance buried in the cost. Add them if you think you really need them, but I avoid all of it.

One other thing I'm seeing at my local Kia dealer is that every -- EVERY -- Moroney sticker has a dealer "add-on" sticker that includes their over-priced options and what they call a "Regional Market Adjustment" of something like $3,750. It is on every car, even the little Soul's. It is total BS -- nothing but profit. I don't know how they can sell cars like that.

That could explain why OTD was over $7K, and explained as "incurred dealer costs" or somesuch. The Kia incentive of $5,900 was used against that, and our actual OTD first payment was $1,212. So, "Kia giveth, the dealership taketh away"? Don't know. It is all a ridiculously complex numbers game. I agree: get a solid agreed price, know what it includes, and don't budge upward from that. If they try their add on games, you'll spot them instantly. That will translate into a monthly payment that is automatically affordable. You don't need to dicker from the standpoint of "what do you want to afford per month"?

Just had a terrible experience here. Was quoted an out the door price in writing, then when I got there they claimed it included incentives, when it clearly did not. I live over an hour away. Last time I ever go there. Awful.

Curious: what are you trying to buy? Don't you already have a Stinger?

Haha... yeah. Kia is repurchasing it. Funny thing is, the 2019 I saw had more peeling than my Stinger had. Both headlights had peeling paint in the corners. It was a ceramic silver. I may go look at White next since that color seems to have no issues. If I find issues there I may give up and buy something else, which I’d hate to do. Dealing with Kia dealers is driving me nuts.

Really! That's the first claim of failing paint on MY19s that I have heard of. Too bad. Hope it's a lot more rare than the MY18s.

White was the worst headlight assembly peeling color that I looked at last summer. No issues with paint otherwise.

Good fortune in your search.

Ugh... thx. Just so frustrated right now.

Hmm, sorry to hear the troubles you guys are having with Sands Kia.

A few months ago, I was shopping for a new vehicle, and unfortunately there were no Blue GT1s or GT2s in Iowa (I've relocated). So I ended up financing a Subaru WRX.

I rarely see any Stingers in Iowa since there's only 1 Kia dealership here. I will look forward to see if Kia will develop a 2nd gen with the blind spot cameras. Or I could wait for deals on the K900 and get the Racechip GTS tune.

All 2019 gt2 have 360 cameras. Why would that be a big deal?

I think he actually means blind spot camera. The K900 has it. You put on your blinker and your dash has an actual video of your blind spot. Kind of gimmicky to me.

Yup. Kia calls it The Blindspot View Monitor, while Honda called it Lanewatch.

My wife and I found it to be very useful. We've tested the Honda's lane warning system and it lacked the ability to detect cars before they reached 1/4 right next to us.
