Bad deal from Rick Case Kia on Monday, so that afternoon so I go to the FL dealer, since they have gotten their Stinger in that day. I am contacted by Luis Belen and emailed a specific quote for the Sunset Yellow GT2 AWD that they received in stock. He emailed me on 19FEB18 for the specific VIN that they have, at a quoted price of $50,394 which of course doesn’t include tax, tag, and title. Awesome, I’ll take it, let’s work out terms for the trade and get everything in writing since your dealership is 580 miles from my house. I take ~20 pictures of the 2016 Optima SX in my garage, including VIN and mileage. I am waiting on them to get back to me on Tuesday 20FEB18 and they finally come back at around 3:00PM that afternoon with the same statement as GA did “We cannot honor the quoted price on the Yellow Stinger because it is limited and we are not bound by the TrueCar contract price”. When he originally emailed me the price, he stated that the price could NOT be changed because they are under contract to honor that price, so what changed in less than 24 hours?

They upped the price to $51,030, and gave me an out the door price of $54,641. Ok, can we negotiate a little better for the trade? They offered $18,500 and my payoff is $20,xxx. If you can just come up to $20,000 on the trade, bringing the out the door price to $53,141 I will come down and get the car. I already have financing and USAA will send you a letter to hold the car. Luis Belen said he would get with his sales manager and let me know. Fast forward about 4.5 hours and me calling 3 times to finally get Jack/Jake, assistant to Ben the sales manager, on the phone. He immediately has an attitude I should know better than my trade isn't worth $20,000 and $18,500 generous along with they are already loosing $3500 on the Stinger by selling at it $51,030. How are you loosing $3500 when the car only stickers at $52,300 and the dealer invoice price is somewhere around $48-49,000? He hits me with the “Well that doesn’t include the ‘Dealer Addendum Markup’ for this being a limited edition. I flat out tell him that the addendum is just for their profit and Kia only gives MSRP, and with their dealer holdback and back end manufacturer money they will still make money on the car. He goes on the defensive saying I don’t know what I’m talking about, they don’t get any of that and generally being an ass because I dared question his dealership superiority.

Had they even been remotely willing to work with me and not just give me the attitude of I should be privileged they would speak with me about their Yellow Stinger. I would have split the difference on the trade, hell I probably would've just wrote a check for the ~$2k difference and went on with life, but not when I get a shitty attitude. When that happens all bets are off and any business professional composure I have goes out the window.

I am still dealing with USAA about anything they can do, from them and their TrueCar reps because if they didn't want to sell it at that price they should have fixed the price before they sent me a quote, not after the fact.

FTC complaints filed against this dealer also because this was classic false advertising.

Mysteriously, this was their website on Monday:
friendlyKia-wesbiteBeforeDeliveryAndQuote.webp
And then they changed it after the 'non-dealing' with me:
friendlyKia-websiteAfterDeliveryAndQuote.webp

They have thrown all the usual BS rip off fees into the price, etc. The quote they sent me is below. And I can provide full copies for mods/admins to very validity if needed.

Sorry to hear you couldn't get into this Stinger. :( Don't lose hope. You'll find one. And thank you for the information...

Its a friggin yellow car with a $.98 Limited badge ..............................this is one of the silliest car promtions I've ever heard of . The dealer and Kia USA need to get flamed for this , The Limited Edition should have had ALL the missing features and range of unique colors , this version is pathetic marketing . Great color , great car , really bad thinking !

Your exactly right they do. I can honestly say that the Optima SX is an awesome car, and the Stinger is just an insane sportscar that doesn't require a trust fund or selling organs to buy, FOR THE MOST PART.

KIA, and their dealers especially, need to learn what customer service is and we are the reason they exist in the first place. If we don't buy your products then thats a problem for them. They won't listen to us, much less care about our opinion, so we need to speak with our wallet. Just don't buy a KIA period for 6-12 months and let the cars sit. Maybe then they will open their eyes and go 'oh hell what happened'.

And when I walk in to buy an almost $50k car, the first words out of their mouth should never be "Well where do you need your payment to be?" I am NOT Joe Schmukatelli trying to keep my used 2014 Forte payment under $500/month with my 250-300 credit score. We already know we can afford the car, treat me like a good customer, and focus on what I am asking from you. There is always a solution if stealerships take their head out of their ass and listen to the customer.

W0W!, that dealer prep fee is exorbitant, awful expensive car wash and one hour (maybe) walk around by service tech

Get a written Buyer's Order from the next dealer

8. Thoroughly Read the Buyer's Order
Before you agree to any transaction, read over the buyer's order. This is a document that lists the price of every single thing on the vehicle, from its base cost to dealer fees and taxes. If you have any questions, be sure to ask the dealer about everything before signing the order. This includes items like documentation fees and taxes. If you aren't sure what an item is, now's the time to ask, and if anything makes you uncomfortable, this is your last chance to back out.
