Repairing the Black Chrome trim?

Probably not an option, since it's a plastic layer on a plastic body part, but figure I'll ask: A rock took out a pencil eraser sized circle from the black chrome on the front bumper. Is there any way to fill that back in? Looks ugly AF with the white plastic underneath. It wouldn't even need to be perfect, I just want it covered. Lol.

Other than buying a new piece, you could try abrading the white plastic to make a keyed surface, then apply some dark silver or black plastic paint (they do make paints especially for plastic) to cover it up. Won't look perfect, but probably a lot better than the white showing through now.

Did you get a quote on what the replacement trim piece would cost?

Yep...color then clear coat nail polish. Have done this on my triathlon bike after a crash and worked rather well.

Same thing happened to me. I have yet to do anything about it.

I have tons of dents from rocks on it. I posted a while back to see if anyone else had issues but didn’t get much response. It seems to chip way easier than my Optima that I had for 90k miles and no dents in the chrome.

What about plasti-dipping the trim? dipyourcar.com seems to have a lot of options. I've never done plastidip, but I may practice on it and do both my devils claw and lip glossy black when they arrived.

Did you get around to plastidipping your devils claw? I did mine with black and glossifier and it still isn't anything close to a match with a surrounding area.

I did, but I messed up on it. Ended up with some texture with the black so when I used the glossifier, it didn't really made any difference. I think I'm just going to take it to a body shop to get it painted gloss black then have someone wrap it in ppf so it won't get chipped.
