There is a strip along either side of the front windshield that is clear on top and black at the bottom. I don't know what is called -- maybe "window seal trim"? Well, it is scratched deep enough that I can feel it. It shows up in the sunshine when you approach the door. I think this plastic must be softer than the headlamp plastic. But the only thing I can think of doing is using either headlamp restoring compound or (if they still make it) CD/DVD scratch removing compound. What do you all think?

If you are that fussed with it buy the new trim otherwise you are going to blow money on this and not fix it. Personally I wouldn't bother. It's not going to add any value to it.

Since getting a replacement part is always a final solution, dry wet sanding it, then rubbing and polishing compounds. You might be satisfied that it doesn't "wave" at you each time you approach the car. If you do a fubar, then get the replacement part. I have no idea if that plastic is white painted black, or black on black/clear coat. I guess you'll find out. Ha hah.
