I’m in the process of shopping for my Stinger. I understand that there isn’t a way to remote start unless you have a 2nd smaller key fob. Is this correct?

The oem fob works fine. You press the lock button once, then you press the trunk button once and it will start. The smaller fob can also be used to lock and unlock the doors. If you open a door when car is running, the car will shut off. It works great to cool or warm the car.

Welcome. I don't want remote start. I like touching my car as much as possible (usually with cleaning tools in hand:P).

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. You've come to the right place for researching the Kia Stinger! I'm glad you found us. :)

OEM remote will work to start/stop like mentioned above.

FYI.. Engine will stop when you open the door. It also stops after 10 min. (default time, can be changed to 5 min.) AND blast the horn when it shuts down. I (and my neighbors) found this out at 5:30 AM.

I think maybe I am missing something. I have a 2020 stinger GT. Either I don't have the remote start thing or I am doing something wrong. I tried locking then pushing trunk button. All it done was flashed the side marker lights. Car does not remote start. Thanks for any info.

Would need to have factory remote start installed.

it doesn't come standard. It is an option, so I'd say you don't have it. It would be on your window sticker under options if you do

Gotcha. I wish I would have know that was an option. They did not mention it at time of purchase of car. But then again. I knew way more about the car than the sales person. Obviously I did not know enough. Hahaha

You would also have received the unnecessary remote-start fobs along with the standard key fobs, and it would be listed on the window sticker.

I don't have a remote start per se, but I use my UVO app to start my car with my phone.
aha..you are certainly correct...but while Canada has allowed the UVO app to easily start the car, we southern cousins down here in the USA are sadly not provided the same service online....KIA did make it possible to add the $495 factory option on many of our cars delivered here. Mine had already been added when I picked it up, and it came with that small remote fob along with the usual KIA detonator key, both of which will start my car by clicking the lock and trunk buttons one after the other. But the car stops and beeps the little horn when your time expires, or suddenly when you open the door.

So the UVO app doesn’t work in the US? Anyway to stop the auto shut off when you open the door? Seems counterintuitive

unknown...when I installed the OEM factory remote starter module on my 2007 Optima, the new factory key would start it, then shut off after about 10 min, but even if you opened the door with the remote, and as long as you inserted and turned the key in the ignition, it would keep running until you drove off on your way. Much preferred, since all your defrosters or A/C would continuing heating or cooling the car without any frustrating interruption. Also don't like the disturbing clunk of the jerky Auto Stop/Start system either...

I never got the small remote fob! ☹️

I purchased the official OEM KIA Remote Start kit online on eBay for about $300, which included the module to be installed, with all the instructions showing how to make multiple connections under the dash to the ignition, and included a small hidden shut-off button, as well as the small antenna to put right above the rear mirror...Have been really happy with this product, since my year of production in 2006.5 did not yet have the later key systems which added the immobilizer chip features.
