recall completed, less than a thousand miles later vehicle won't start.

My past experience with dealerships was exactly the reason I decided to install the $5 recall wiring kit myself using a method much simpler than what they have to do at the dealership where you don't have to take the entire fuse box apart.

what is the part # for the recall kit?

Okay so this is going to be a long post but want to explain as well as possible. So background is that I purchased a 2021 Stinger GT in December and got the safety recall completed at about 5200 miles. Before that I have had zero issues, as expected with a new car, and had really been loving this car. Then less than a thousand miles later when i was driving home from work the auto stop tried to initiate at a stop sign when I noticed it immediately turned back on without applying the gas or letting of the brake. at the same time i lost all power to my infotainment, windows and locks. I was able to drive home but was only like a minute away anyhow. After that the car wouldn't start at all but as it was late Saturday knew i would have to wait until Monday to get it to the dealership but tried to call ahead anyway. That was the first time they sounded like they would be less than thrilled to take my car as they told me it would be at least a week and half until they could make an appointment. That change once I told them I was only at 6000 miles and 5 months off the lot. So that Monday before I got it towed I was actually able to get the car to start by holding down the ignition for about 10 seconds. Still no infotainment, windows or locks. At this point I immediately headed to the dealer as the closest one is about an hour and twenty minutes away. So was on my way trying to go no faster than about 65 mph just incase, but noticed in addition to the other systems offline the cruise control wasn't working as well. Made it about 25 minutes down the road when I lost power steering as well and just about every warning light in the car came on. Wasn't feeling to great about this so pulled over after about a minute and the car shut off on its own. So get it towed to the dealer, which KIA did take care of, which once again they seemed less than thrilled to hear the various faults. they said to give them about a week which I did not calling until the following Tuesday at which time I called and was told they were still troubleshooting. I then waited to call again until that Friday, so 2 full weeks with my car, and they couldn't give me an update and had to call me back later. When they called the update was that they basically had no idea other than some power issue and still couldn't even get the car to start. They also stated that they were only sporadically working on it as it didn't come in on an appointment. To which I thought at what point to you quit using that as an excuse and start scheduling time to work on it, but anyways. At this point I asked when I should start being concerned that there was no progress to which they replied I could feel free to contact corporate and could expect an update no earlier than the next Thursday, almost 3 weeks with the car.
So I called KIA customer service like they dealer suggested. Initially they were a little stand offish as well saying that they couldn't get involved until the dealer actually found a fault. I then asked at won't point does that stop making sense if its already been 2 weeks and they say at least another week until they might have an update. So at that point they opened a work order and said they would call the dealer Monday, tomorrow, and would call me Tuesday. So we'll see what happens.
I guess I'm seeing if anyone has experienced anything like this and am I being impatient? Or any suggestions on anything that could possibly help as I'm starting to lose faith that this situation will end well.
I had a situation where my sun roof stopped working. They had the car over three weeks and claim they never could find the root cause. They took the roof apart and put it back togeather.

Any updates?
Yes the update is that there are no updates. Basically last I talked to them a few days ago they still have no clue what's causing the issue. So nothing from the dealership or Kia. Talk to a lawyer who said normally 30 days plus would start a case but because of the pandemic judges are being much more lenient towards manufacturers so they suggest at least 45 to 60 days with no progress before we proceed that way

What a "shoot" show... :(

Update: so dealership states that they are now in daily contact with the Kia engineers since last Friday but still have not found a solution. Stating that it's an electrical issue, duh, and are running tests back and forth with the engineers. The dealership is now paying for my rental and Kia corporate is in the process of starting the paperwork to reimburse for the previous 3 weeks worth of rental. Kia corporate has also elevated my work order whatever that means but I will state that their tone and the dealerships have greatly changed now that we're about to hit the 30-day mark. Hopefully they figure it out here in the very near future and this has a happy ending. Like I said before up until this point I've actually loved the Stinger but Kia is starting to get on my last nerve.

You're not the only one. I too felt frustrated with how Kia was handling my issues before they were resolved. If Kia wishes to continue to grab consumers from the higher brand news they need to step up their service centers, dealerships, and how corporate communicates. I see great potential though.

Good update and hopefully everything works itself out in your favor!

Start some paper work with NCDS. National Center for Dispute Settlement, LLC

I had a 2019 toyota Rav4 limited, hybrid, brand new, with the gas tank issue. Because I filed with NCDS and they ruled it had to be fixed in x time or buy back, months later I won a lemon law case for a total buy back.
No harm in filing with them just some time and typing.

I now drive a 2020 Stinger.

^ Very good advice right here!

They still don't know what's wrong other than the battery is being drained by a short in the car with no clue where. So looked into the NCDS as suggested but KIA goes through BBB Autoline for disputes. Was going to go that route but a lawyer advised that was not the best course of action as they tend to favor the manufacturer and can use it against you in court if it comes to that. At any rate I figured out with no help from KIA that by their policies the customer has to request review for replacement or buyback. They had no benchmarks for that other than the customer losing patience and asking about it. Once I figured that I obviously started the process about 3 weeks ago and received a offer from KIA with 3 options: 1-replacement(which seems obvious but the language is really ambiguous and implies I'd have to find the replacement and have to negotiate the deal with the dealer and pay the difference if the dealer wants more for the vehicle, plus i'd pay $2,300 for mileage of my car at the time of failure.) 2- Buyback of the vehicle which includes my loan being payed off and return of my down payment(20,000) and 5 monthly payments($2,400) minus the mileage charge($2,300) and cost of the protection & maintenance plan ($5,700). So I'd end up with a refund of just over $14,000 and loan payoff. 3- One time payment of $8,000 and keep the car. (WTF!)
So I sent the offer to a lawyer here for review but I have a feeling they are going to tell me why it may be on the low end it will be within legal limits or not worth going to court over, but we'll see. I've also been asking the KIA rep who sent me this for a more detailed explanation of option 1 and clarification of why I'm paying for extended protection plans for a car that didn't even make to its second scheduled maintenance in option 2. So far he has ghosted me(calls go to voicemail and doesn't respond to emails). Pretty sure that's a tactic to make me just choose within the 2 week period the offer is supposedly good for.
Pending on and if KIA or the lawyer come up with anything new I'm leaning towards buyback and KIA can kiss my you know what. Which sucks cause I loved my stinger but KIA is straight trash!

Kia has great cars but trash when it comes to service and warranty. 10 years of going round and round. Just pray that your car won’t break.

^ this

I am genuinely scared bringing my car to the service center next week for my discounted oil change and mounting/balancing for the tires... oh well...

Interestingly, the 2019 I bought had been sitting for about 16 months in storage. I was able to jump start and drive it to the dealership at which point they did a service. Turns out the $450 gel filled battery was dead.

I've never seen a car with 2000km and less than 2 years old have a battery die outright, especially a very expensive one that is supposed to be better in every way.

They did not warranty replace the battery because they said it died due to the car sitting which I believe is BS. Now the leasing company I bought the car from paid for the service and battery so I didn't press too hard but since when do batteries in cars suddenly up and die?

Don't know about the Stinger in particular but I deployed a couple times with my Pontiac G8 GT where I had to store it for up to a year. In that scenario I just unhooked the battery when I stored it and was able to hook it up after a year with no issue. If you did the same for 16 months then I'm with you on why did the battery die.

Cars nowadays never really turn off, as some of the sensors are on all the time (I.e.: remote door unlock) so there is a small current draw on the battery all the time. If a car is not driven frequently (at least every 3-4 weeks) this can fully discharge the battery and it can sulfate, at which point it will not hold a charge and must be replaced. I use CTEK battery maintainers to avoid this from happening.

This past winter, I had to replace the battery in my 2017 STi…as it went completely dead as I did not put the battery maintainer on it for a few weeks…..now that was a surprise!

Most modern cars have too many computers that have constant trickle draw like the security system etc, that will kill the battery if left sitting.. our bmw's would kill a brand new battery parked in under 6 months if we didn't plug it into a trickle charger or disconnect the battery..

Trickle charge your battery when your car is going to be parked for a while.

"If the vehicle is not going to be used for an extended time, disconnect the battery cables." (page 7-35, manual; cables, plural, not just up front)
