Hey everyone, so I went ahead and ordered myself a GTS Black + Phone App for the Stinger.

I own a Stinger GT Limited here in Canada, and I believe the closest comparison in the US would be the GT2 AWD (correct me if I'm wrong). I placed my order last Tuesday (March 20th) and got my shipping notification Saturday. It shipped direct from Germany and arrived this morning (March 28th). Overall, pretty satisfied with the support and turnaround time.

I made a quick unboxing/install/first impressions video. By no means am I an expert or a professional film maker, but just figured I would try and do something at least as the information available regarding the Racechips is still kinda scarce. Overall, install was very simple (though the instructions are technically wrong, details in video) and I did what I could for a quick launch with the chip installed. Full disclosure before you watch the video, I wasn't equiped with my GoPro or anything, so it's simply dashcam footage that doesn't accurately show a 0-60mph/100kph. I am planning on getting together with a friend and some GoPros to make a proper video. I'm also running on 18" wheels with winter tires currently.

So far no complaints, though I only had the time for maybe a 30 minute drive today. I'm got a road trip coming this weekend.. will be testing the chip for the next few days and will report back with my findings.

**I did get a check-engine light after initially installing the chip and flooring it. Pulled the car over and turned it off, had a look under the hood to double check all the cables, check engine light was gone when I turned the car back on. So not too sure what that was all about, might have been that one of the connectors wasn't fully clipped, but I'll be keeping an eye on it for the next few days.

Anyway, here is the video, hope you enjoy and let me know if you have any questions.

Any problems with the app??

So far, no. I heard there were problems but I must have connected/disconnected mine about 4-5 times and it connected fine every time so far.

Good to hear. I have had some connection issues when I forget to close the app before I get out of range.

Since you're going on a road trip, monitor your fuel economy. And try out all 3 modes.

Great initial review and install video. Very helpful and look forward to more to come! Thanks for the update and please keep the tests & reviews coming.

I could have used this yesterday. Nice vid. My VW instructions were wrong like yours and didn't even mention the MAP sensor. There is another post with the PDF attached with the actual Kia Stinger instructions.
Now I am wondering what Octane is safe with Race Mode?

Well I can tell you I am running Shell V-Power 91 and I've gotten check engine light twice so far.. plugged in an OBD2 reader and it said Feedback Knock Sensor.

Oh that's not good. When I had my Subaru feedback knock is bad. Usually caused by bad fuel. I used to use shell and continued to get feedback knock. Switched to chevron and magically gone. Shell fuel is not good in California not sure about everywhere else. Feedback knock also can be from oil bypassing through your system and getting sucked in a diluting your gas. Which will cause the gasoline to be a lower octane and create knocks. I suggest everyone who chips buy a catch can. Keep that oil out of the system it will dilute your oil. Can someone confirm what I'm saying. Or add to it.

I think it is just because the Race mode is too aggressive for 91 Octane. Have to stick with the Sport mode. I have 92 and so good so far but only been a day and not many chances to go WOT. I previously ran a 93 octane WRX tune on 92 Octane gas (low altitude, low outside temps) with data logging and no knock to speak of. Hoping "Race" works for 92 as well. On the WRX the HP gain was nearly double for the 93 over the 91 tune.

Definitely keep us up to date. Your braver than I am :)

Definitely interested in watching how the RaceChip does vs the other brands. It's the only one so far that has given me an initial impression of a good tuner. Luckily I live in South Carolina where 93 is plentiful, but so are the ungodly Mustangs and Camaros with no exhaust. This would make it even easier to run away from them and look at their face when the realize what just outran them.

Have you managed to run it in race mode without a CEL? I've been thinking about getting this for the convenience of the app over the lap3 chip.

Yes. To be honest while I had mine, it ran better in Race mode than Sport. I basically had it in Race mode only and the car in sport. Thing rocked and was wicked fast I scared my passengers.

I got 1 check engine light, cleared It then it ran good again for a couple days. It wasn't till I knocked the chip down to sport as well that I started having big issues.

Interesting, I never would have thought a milder boost setting would cause more issues. Did you ever manage to get it fully running? I wonder if it's our fuel, I've only used shell 91 for the reason it's the only fuel I have access to that is 91 octane and no ethanol.

Well it may be completely coincidental. I'd assume Race mode was doing damage over time and it just so happens I dropped it to sport mode when everything finally went.

I had issues day 1 with the chip and was never able to get it running properly for long periods of time. Shell 91 is the only fuel I got near me too so couldn't test with 93.

I'm wondering if our colder weather could be a factor, but I never run the car hard when it's in the double negatives. When I had the chip we were still getting some + weather days.

If you're having issues whatsoever, I'd contact their support. There may be a simple update.
