3.3TT Please Help - Check Engine Light WOT

The catch can dumping gunk could cause an issue? I read about it on another forum. On the road at the moment but will link it when. I can.
Anything is possible. Seems odd to be so full so fast. I don't catch much at all in mine.
If it keeps running fine, just check the OCC frequently until you get a feel for how fast it fills up.

There are reports that the 2022 incorrectly detects an overboost condition and goes into limp mode.
Can you please cite where you've heard these reports?

Thanks! I know. But the absolute shocking thing? It took Kia over a year and still never found out the issue. The performance shop was great, I did not pay for the service so they didn't investigate further (they did a free of charge code pull and gave some advice). Really frustrating, as I literally have not replaced anything in the engine bay!

Oh well, a bit of FYI for any owners, make sure the air boxes are securely pushed forward! Even an 8mm movement back caused this issue (but the box was still secure on the intake plastic).
And this is exactly why I would only take my car to a performance shop. Not Kia. These horror stories are starting to scare the living hell out of me. Glad you got your situation worked out.

Im almost in the same boat. I consider myself extremely lucky that my dealer actually knows how to work on these cars the right way, and that stuff can happen when you mod them. That's probably from the fact that two of the tech and the owner have moded stingers themselves though lol

I misunderstood you, I thought you've seen an 'official' report of some sort - my bad.

BTW, I think I've read every overboost thread hoping to find a clue.

Sorry for not being more clear. I find that there is more information available on this forum than you can get from Kia.

Ah bugger Oz, hope you get it fixed soon - I haven't had that yet so apologies I can't help :(

As a side note - I had the code pulled and it was P061B00 - Internal Control Module Torque Calculation Performance. Have no mods to the intake or anything, only exhaust. I might pull my intakes apart and make sure everything looks OK this weekend. My performance mechanic who did the exhaust install for me says best bet is check the intakes completely and replace the filters as a first step. If it continues, they will check all the wiring to make sure all has been plugged in correctly.
This is the second time this code has been pulled for me. First time was wot and second time when I had come back out to the car during midday after previously driving . I do have drop in Aem dry panel filters put in but that’s it . I’ve had those on for about 3k miles . Could those be the issue or positioning of them ?

That is interesting. Do you have a link to your filters? If I recall correctly, I had the issue after installing "regular" K&N intake box filters.

These are the part numbers. Might switch back to stock air boxes if it happens again since it has been reported that that was a the issue and making sure everything is snug and tight. My girl was able to briny my car into the Kia dealership today while I was at work. The check engine light cleared itself overnight . They are running diagnostics but that’s all they can do for now . They said if it happens again bring it back immediately .

Interesting, different manufacturer but they look very close to my K&N filters. My oil catch can was also full (which I think was the main issue, I hadn't emptied it in something like 4 or 5 months). After emptying the can I haven't had the issue again. I hope Kia finds something!

I hope they find something too. I’m bone stock as well so I really don’t get it. I don’t see how drop in panel filters can cause this not unless they are not tight and secure . Anyways keep you guys posted

What kind of catch can do you have ?

I highly doubt that the drop in intake filters are the cause of your issues. If they are secured and mounted properly then you should be good. Did they check your blowoff valves?

I told them to take a look. My lady has my car at the dealership now. Eveything you guys stated here I told them and relayed it as well as the blow off valve . Still doing the diagnostics currently

Throttle body acutator and fuel injection system needed cleaning. Fuel injection system cleaning $280. Throttle body actuator covered under warranty but without it would have been $700 yikes. Throttle body actuator will be here on Thursday to get it installed. Just glad they were able to find out what’s going on and get it taken care of. Two codes were stored P061B and P2118. Hope this post helps ppl who experience this problem or codes .

The entire problem was likely the whole problem. The fuel system cleaning was just thrown in to offset the cost of the warranty work.
Unless you got some pretty bad gas, idk.
