Today, a friend of mine (since the second grade!) and I went hiking in the Uinta Mountains, in the Mirror Lake area. This hike was backwards: in that it starts with going downhill to the lakes, and then when you return you have to hike up to get out. Rain hovered in the air but never really got started; and clouds mingled with sunlight. When I got home my Stinger's front and windshield required serious debugging.
Winter is never very far away in the Uinta Mountains. There was still snow pack on the slopes above us. We noticed a great number of dead lodgepole pines. Must be an infestation occurring right now. All part of Nature I'm afraid.
The highway around there is a blast to drive. I got in one really good pass that took us up to c. 100 mph.

Some fast cornering raised the heartrate.
We plan on returning in September while the weather is still good.
