This iPhone cable allows the phone to lay perfectly flat on the charging pad if you want to connect your iPhone to the data USB port. It has a right angle lighting plug and is 12” long which is the perfect size when you want to hold the phone to change music or type something. The phone will use the charging pad to charge the phone even when connected to the data USB port.

They are super cheap too. You get 3 for less than $9!

You've verified this works with carplay? Just have to ask, because I've bought cheap cables that only charged, did not pass data.

This one works with CarPlay...shorter than his though. I don’t want to hold/ look at it when in the tray. And prefer to not have a cord bouncing around. This is perfect for me.

Thx.. I had a number of items sitting in my cart so I went ahead and ordered what he posted, assuming the fact he posted a pic in the car, there's not much point using it if it doesn't work with carplay..

It irritates me to no end having to plug in. I have used wireless charging since I bought my 6S+ years ago (using a QI charge receiver that slips onto the back).. The biggest reason was convenience of just putting the phone down at home, on my desk, next to my sofa, in the car, and it just charges. Now, three+ years later, I have to plug the freaking thing in to get nav and music from my phone. ugh..

Thx..

Looking forward to getting them.. was again irritated by the 3' of spare cable flapping around while my phone sat on the wireless charging pad this evening..

Too avoid the physical "plugging" part of it all ... I've been using these magnetic cables (branded; PZOZ --- but there are many), at the very least it saves my phones from socket wear. I can also mix the socket plug heads for other devices; as my wife has iphone, I have Samsung S9. Meaning we just leave a cable in each car (and at home too) and can freely connect in any of these cables with either phones or devices with a suitable plug fitted in their sockets. Charge and Data connects fine.

I cant find a 30cm / 1ft cable version though, only comes at 1m / 3 ft. I've looped the cable to fit under the stinger's phone storage slide.

Ordered from Aliexpress. Cheap as!

And it allows date transmission...lol

Yeah, looked at those as well, but too long. Perhaps shorter versions will become available..

I’ve been thinking about tapping into the usb data wires to create an additional usb plug inside the “lift up” console storage area, like my Optima had a usb charging only port. I know that could only use one usb data port at a time. (I’ll post a tutorial if I do it.)

But...what if you tapped into the usb data wires with this magnetic cable (cutting off the usb part), then have the other side (the magnetic end) located inside at the bottom of the charging pad. So when you slide your phone all the way into the charging pad, it also connects to the magnetic piece perfectly. Then you would actually have a wireless usb data transfer.

Just a fun thought...

These are the wires coming out of the USB data port. Hopefully I will be able to splice into these to add a usb data port in the center console. I’ll have much better look in the morning. Green and yellow are usually the +/- data wires. Anyone have an expert opinion?

Green and white on every one I've ever dealt with.
