So I finally found a used GT that was somewhat close to me and priced ok. This was a used 2018 GT base with 500 miles on it, at Peak Kia North in Windsor, CO. I live a couple hours from there so deal was done almost entirely over email.
Pros:
They gave me what I asked for for my trade in
Staff seemed friendly
Decent Price (imo)
Cons:
So first, after we worked out what the car would cost and got my financing, they told me what payments would be. Seemed a little high. After some quick math, I figured out that at the payment they gave me I would be paying FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS over the price we agreed on. I called them on it right away, and they said "oops, we are using a new system and made a mistake." I guess theres a (tiny tiny) chance they were telling the truth, but I don't believe it for a second.
Second, the deal was made on a tuesday. I was informed at that time that the dealership owner was driving the car and would not be able to get it back to the dealership until the following tuesday, 1 week away. Ok, I was ready to buy, but whatever, I can wait a few days. They called me on fri or sat, and said they needed me to come in and put a deposit down because someone else wanted to buy the car now. Remember, the car is not at the dealership, and won't be for a few more days, and we had already made a deal on the car. I called them back and somewhat firmly informed them I would not be coming in to put a deposit on a car we had made a deal on and I would have picked up a few days ago if they would have had the car on the lot as advertised. Luckily, I had connected with someone in the finance department and not sales, and they understood my reasoning, and after a few calls back and forth they said I could come in 1st thing Monday and they would have it ready. (Incidentily the car was advertised with 500 miles on it, but the dealership owner put a few hundred more miles on it - I think it was at 13xx when I picked it up - not a huge deal but probably something they could have updated thier advertising with.)
So, once I got there everything went easily and smoothly. In all honesty, if this were a new car or a less rare used car, I would not have bought from them after the things they tried to pull. But, I had been searching for a used, there are not many around (within 300 miles) of me, and the few that did appear were gone the second they hit the lot. So I put up with being jerked around a bit because I was getting tired of missing deals and was over-anxious to get the car.
