I bought a 2020 Stinger in White pearl not even a month ago and I noticed a few overdripped paint spots a few days after getting it. I took it back and they told me that would fall under warranty, so now the dealership has asked me to take pictures of all the things I've found so they can determine how long it will take to fix and when I should bring it in.

Well, I started looking for the four things I had found up until then and lo and behold, I found more and more. But mostly small rust spots, only visible when looking up close. (Had to split the link to my pics in two parts drive.google.com/drive/folders/

Has anyone else had an experience like this? What should I expect they do? Any advice is welcome.

the rust looking spots look like iron fallout to me especially as it looks like it is on the plastic portions as well.. can pick up some iron fallout remover from the auto part store.. i use a meguiars one. if that doesn't remove it or it is under the clear coat, it is definitely a paint issue that should be warrantied

The wheel well edge black spot looks like a chip, not a paint flaw. I agree with the "rust" being contaminants from the air; should be removable. The "drips" are a whole other thing. Can't say that anyone on here has complained of that one before. It is easy to remove something when you have too much. How that is done is the tricky part. Definitely, let Kia recommend someone to do that detail.

They came back and said the over drips are corrected under warranty but the contamination would be done by the dealership as a 3 week car shouldn’t have any even if it was a demo they should have decon’d it before delivering it.

I would have your dealer Clay Bar the whole car then wash and wax it for you. Also pickup a clay bar kit for yourself. A couple times a year you should wash, then clay bar, the wash and wax to remove any contaminants. These spots will pop up every so often and with bring a white car will be noticable. My Silver Optima had then periodically, but I would Clay bar at least twice a year and it took them off no problem.

Thanks! That’s exactly what they said they will do. I will also decontaminate it before taking it for the clay bar treatment.

I've had my stinger two months and i'm yet to bear back from Kia about my paint issues. My local dealer has submitted two claims so far and I haven't heard ANYTHING.

I have worse than drip..

1 eyelash clearcoated into my hood. 2 fuzzballs, one on each fender in the clearcoat. driver side door has one fuzzball and one CHUNK of gravel in the clearcoat. Roof has areas where the paint is uneven but it'll correct that myself when they have the main issues fixed.

Oof, how did the process go? I already have an appointment to correct mine through the dealer. They said it will go through Warranty with Kia. Except for the Iron fallout, they will correct that.

Its been two months and I haven't heard from Kia. I'm pissed. I posted these pictures to their facebook wherever possible.

So you didn’t go to your dealership? The warranty manual says you have to go to a Dealership (any dealership but the one you bought the far from is preferred) and they will take care of it.

There’s also that 1-877 number but I’m sure that’s the contact you have used.

That’s weird that they have been so unresponsive to cover this issue.

Dude, I took it to the dealership first. They submitted it twice. I called in to Kia and they told me no progress. That was over a month ago. Failing that, I lit them up on facebook. I figure some bad publicity would get them paying attention to me sooner than later.

Damn, sorry to hear my man.
Hope they reach out soon, that red will look sweet once it’s all fixed.

I already love how it looks! I found the crap in the clearcoat when I prepped it for ceramic coating. I was pissed! Had to dip the wheels pearl black till im working again and can switch it up to wider red wheels

Good morning In 2018 I purchased a Yellow Kia Stinger which had paint peeling. My dealer organized with Kia Australia to have it resprayed. In 2022 I sent an email to Kia Australia stating that there was peeling again on my bonnet. I had no reply. I sent a follow up email...NO REPLY. It has been over 18 months and I have an email chain a mile long, videos, photos and an independent report regarding the paint work. In the meantime, the peeling has become worse & rust has formed, I have found more peeling and there are moisture blisters all over my bonnet which has been brought to the attention of both Kia Berwick and Kia Australia. There is a lifetime warranty on the paint work which Kia Australia have denied me of.

'lifetime' paint warranty. cool. unheard of, to me. how did you get that or is it a standard aussie thing? kia's paint warranty stateside is 36,000 miles or 36 months, whichever comes first. your respray up here would be outdated and on your dime.

Have a look at the above write ups

I have a tonne of photos, videos and reports to verify the issue but Kia Australia are still refusing.

why would kia give a better warranty on a respray than on original factory paint? it makes no sense. it's been well over 36 months since the 2018 sunset/sunshine yellow came out and was resprayed.
