P0087 code after doing head studs

I did, turns out my cam follower underneath had jammed up and seized in the bracket. Ended up scoring my cam and costing me $3k. However I havent had issues as of yet with the pump itself.

Did you ever figure this out? My p0087 code started when I installed the stage 2 pump from Burger. They sent me another stage 2 pump and it seemed to fix it. A week later I'm right back in the same boat. I think the cam roller was popping off track under the hpfp. I reinstalled the roller and pump a few times and everything seemed fine. No problems for almost a year. Now it's back again. I wouldn't even recommend the stage 2 hpfp to my enemies. $1,600 paperweight
I just dealt with this issue. I was getting p0087 codes out of the blue one day.
My trims were low (running rich) but I was seeing 0 high fuel pressure. The car would refuse to accelerate or build any boost.
Incredibly hard starts and etc.
I replaced the BMS Stage 2 HPFP with the OEM HPFP and the car fired back up without issue.

The BMS Stage 2 HPFP appeared to be mechanically sound:
- The plunger and spring moved freely
- The pump came up straight when loosened (it wasn't mounted at an angle)
- The cam lobe and cam follower looked practically brand new

My best guess at what went wrong is the control unit in the BMS Stage 2 HPFP failed and was reporting erratic fuel pressure.

Luckily there was no gas in the sump (I needed to do an oil change anyway so I drained it to confirm).

The BMS Stage 2 HPFP is wildly problematic, even down to the aluminum riser that has threads that strip out if you install the pump more than once.

This sounds like my experience with the BMS stage 1 pump months ago, the HPFP was very problematic. I since replace the BMS stage 1 pump with the Spool FX350 HPFP is it's been prefect.
