Certainly coolant can evaporate, it is at least 50% water, but the cooling system is a sealed system, it can hold pressure in excess of 15psi. If it can evaporate out of a sealed system, then it would leak as well.

I also have a 2011 G37 with 170k miles that does not experience "evapotion" issues. The problem is that once the overflow tank gets low, it will allow for air to be sucked in which will cause an air bubble in in the system causing the engine to over heat. I know as I already went through that.Certainly coolant can evaporate, it is at least 50% water, but the cooling system is a sealed system, it can hold pressure in excess of 15psi. Well, I have 25k miles but my engine was replaced at 20k. So must be the "new" engine thing lol.i was told by kia service coolant evaporates. also they said that it is common for newer vehicles under 10k miles to lose coolant LOL i dont know what that means!
after you guys started posting about coolant, i had to go check our other car; the reservoir had no coolant in it. so thanks for the "reminder". i had my wife take her car to service and have the car checked for coolant leaks. they didnt find any, but after one day of driving the coolant is at the low level again. some say its gaskets, radiator caps, hoses, coolant getting into oil somehow. i have no freaking idea.
that may explain how some are saying they smell it coming thru the vents? is that toward the cabin side?I think I may have found where the coolant system leak is after pressure testing the system at 20 psi. It seems to be by the firewall on the passanger side. I think the coolant hose right above might be leaking.
It is. I just added one more picturethat may explain how some are saying they smell it coming thru the vents? is that toward the cabin side?
