OMG $2000 for a front windshield

Holy sh**. Any ideas as to what is involved in the calibration? Crystal Glass quoted C$169 and my Kia Dealer quoted C$139.

tbh, my camera did not even need to be re -calibrated... but they did charge the insurance for it lol

I got quoted ~$1,200 USD for OEM windshield (GT2).

Although Mobile service quoted me $895 after tax.

Yeah that's a bit much. OEM GT2 for $700. Not including calibration

Oh mine includes calibration! Anyway the money doesn't matter to me since I'm going through insurance ($50 deductible)!

it does when they get you next year with a "your premium gone up because claims in your area have increased"

I'll definitely be raising hell if they pull that card considering I'm moving out of the city before I have to renew!

That’s the average cost for most new cars windshield these days. I pay $250 a year for insurance to cover all windows.

I just had my windshild replaced at the end of April. $100 deductible for what would have been a $2,500-ish bill, all at only an additional $72 premium on my insurance. As I noted earlier in this thread - it's a no-brainer at that cost.

A funny story related to my windshield replacement, however: In mid-May, I received a photo radar ticket for $192 in the mail. I take a close looks at the picture of the car and the speed (113kph in a 90 zone) and figured, "yup that's me all right" but I was pissed off becuase I'd received a ticket from the same spot at a similar speed no more than 3 months earlier. It's a permanent photo radar station there, so there's really no good excuse to get nailed. Anyways, I check my calendar to see where I might have been going and see there was no reason for me to have been on that road at that time. In fact, I checked my email records and see that I'd sent an email from my office 2 minutes later than when the photo radar ticket was taken, so I couldn't have been driving my car there at that time. I'm starting to put together a defence, printing out my email record and such, when I figure I'd better take one more look at things.

So, I take another look at my calendar and see that the ticket was issued on the second day of the 2 days that my car was in the local autobody shop getting its new windshield. The shop had mentioned that they'd need the car for 2 days - 1 day for the installation and the 2nd day to take it to the Kia dealership to get it calibrated. The photo radar location was defintely on the road to the shop. I phone up the body shop and ask to speak the owner. Turns out, he remembers my car well and figures it was likely him driving it to the dealership. Not the first time his been tagged at that same spot - he apologized and agreed to pay it with no further discussion required.

I use alpine insurance (part of intact), they use a side company, that way your premiums doesn’t go up. So it’s $250 a year then $60 for a full windshield or $20 for a crack that can be filled. My KIA K900 came with all that, part of KIAs premium service the car came with. Wish they had that for the Stinger.

i feel for you. until the stinger becomes more popular, parts like the windshield will be at a premium. my oldest brother had an aero coupe monte carlo and an aero coupe grand prix. those sloped back windows were 4000!!!!!! had a friend who worked for the insurance industry and he would call when he had one of these cars, i would purchase the back windows. years later, my brother sells the cars for dirt cheap, but the windows went up in value by 25% scooooooore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Audi A6 also had its windshield cracked and stealer was asking for 2000 USD went got it on a indi place. The A6 is common so I guess these things are expensive.

Well guys,

Title says it all.... I have a crack that has spread do to a crap window chip repair and decided to call my Kia Dealership up here in Canada and a price... I called a couple of glass shops as well to price check and they were sick to hear that number.. comments i had were "that is the price you would pay for a RV windshield" and "A Range Rover windshield doesn't cost that much".. Needless to say i am super pissed with Kia and I am wondering if anyone else has priced a windshield out and what was the cost you were Quoted...

This is a Stinger not a FN Lamborghini..

Lamborghini Murcielago cost 26k Australian dollars, Had to be flown from Italy, be thankful :)

I just bought a 2021 Kia Stinger Limited. Was wondering about glass insurance, and found this thread. Thanks for the info. I checked with a local (Calgary) glass company and there is now after market windshields for the Kia Stinger limited with HUD. $800.00 for windshield and $200.00 for calibration. Was glad to hear that. Passed on the insurance.

This is great news! What's the name of the company?

Our glass insurance is free with our policy, Even if we do not have full coverage.

With you being in Alberta look at AMI for glass coverage. Rates are extremely reasonable.
