Drum roll please - the OEM wheel weight for the 19 inch staggered wheels on the GT RWD is 35 lbs for the front and 33 lbs for the rear. I asked the shop putting on my new wheels if they were sure that the 19x8.5 weighed more than the 19x9.5 and they said shockingly, yes. They are guessing it’s because the back pad on the 19x8.5 are bigger than the 19x9.5. In fact, the wheels I purchased also weighed more on the front wheels than the back.

So here is the weight! Any rotary forged wheel should drop 10lbs or more from the wheels.

I’ll post pics of my setup in a different thread soon. It came out awesome.

Much appreciated dude. Crazy that the stock wheels are that heavy... Definitely pushing me to look at lighter options.

I had no idea the OEM GT rims were that heavy; for some reason I had it in my head that they were a bit under 30 lbs (don't know where that came from); which I thought was heavy enough!

I just bought some TSW "Watkins" for my summer tires; these weigh 22 lbs each. The GT OEM rims are getting powder coated glossy black and will be relegated to winter use only (despite their almost double cost over the Watkins). I use Nitto Motivo UHP A/S during the winter. For the next week or two, I'll be on my Michelins and the Watkins while the GT rims get powder coated; then I'll switch back for the rest of the crappy weather. I anticipate putting the Michelin mounted Watkins back on sometime around the middle of March. The GT rims with Motivos will sit on our shed shelves until (probably) late November. Repeat as necessary. :D

Nice choice! I can’t wait to see pictures. I wanted the TSW Bathurst or the Watkins but there were non in the US in the size I wanted. I had a bent wheel so I was on a bit of a time crunch and the vertininis were available. Although I love the wheels. The Watkins will look great.

I knew these wheels were heavy...I had TSW Nurburgring on my Mustang, 19 x 9 and they were 22lbs each I believe (without rubber). When I put the Stinger wheels up onto the high mounted wheel storage racks, I was thinking they feel damn heavy. At about 13lbs more each, no doubt!

Getting offtopic here, but which storage rack do you use?

I think I bought SKU UCF 600001 (UltraCraft) Wall Mounted Adjustable Tire Rack from Napa, but I sure as heck didn't pay the $194 list price I see on their site right now, I want to say I bought them on sale for about 60. You can find this exact same looking one (maybe different brands) at other retailers like Canadian Tire, Part Source (Canada), Probably O'Reillys, Pep Boys and wherever else the Americans buy car goodies from.

My wheels were lighter in the front, but I have a staggered setup.
Interesting. My newly arrived and installed TSW "Watkins" Double Black rims weigh 22 lbs in the front and 21.5 lbs in the back.

Here's the beautiful beast. The black wheels make the car look more bold. The OEM rims are gorgeous, but they don't look "bold" or "dramatic" on a Silky Silver: you need an Aurora Black or Panthera Metal to show off the OEM rims to best effect (High Chroma Red being a close third best color for the OEM rims). Here are more pics: Aftermarket Wheels

I got the OEM rims back, powder coated glossy black. They are back on the car until winter (and saline on the roads) is done. The Watkins and Michelin summer tires are on the shed shelves for the duration. (I didn't notice till I looked at the close up, that the rims are dusty; I reckon this will be a constant trait of glossy black rims.)

Yup. They will be dusty. But when they are dusty, they are just a semi gloss black ;)

I think the stock wheels powder coated look the best, too bad they are boat anchors.

I like the glossy black look a lot on the OEM rims. But, "boat anchors", that's a bit extreme. On a track the difference in weight (11 to 13 lbs per wheel) would amount to a few tenths of a second, I'm guessing: significant to the needs of competition. But open road driving is not going to see any perceivable difference, in my tyro opinion. :D The Wheel Werks guy asked me if I'd seen/felt any difference in the three days of driving on the Watkins over the OEM rims. I said, no, because with Michelin summer tires driving around in freezing conditions I wasn't about to test any cornering or handling differences: I'll wait till temperatures rise above 40F and pretty much stay there, before pushing the Michelins and lighter TSW rims to get a comparison.

I'm pretty sure my awd 19s had 8.5s all around even though my tires a staggered. I weighted them at 34.6

N my 2018 Mustang the stock wheels were 33.5 lbs, replaced them with some 21lb P51 wheels, the difference was easily noticable, even in everyday driving. The car was more responsive, turn in felt a little more crisp. It’s a worthy upgrade for sure.
