So I've had my Stinger for just over 2 years now and while I absolutely love the car I do think the NVH is pretty bad for a car classified as a Gran Turismo. As the months get colder the pops and creaks from the interior panels is driving me nuts. To be fair the roads in my area are total crap but still I feel like this isn't something I wouldn't be dealing with if I had chosen a S5 sportback Audi or BMW Gran Coupe. Does anyone know if the refreshed model is supposed to have any improvements in this department? If the refresh has improvements with this I might consider swapping for the newer model...

I don't think Kia will explicitly state that they've improved that aspect of the car's characteristics. To do so would be acknowledgement of problems with the current vehicle. From what we've seen posted here Kia basically considers all creaks, moans, cracks, groans, pops, ticks, bangs, clicks, blops, and rattles to be normal.

Kia just doesn't take these kinds of complaints seriously. They figure as long as the car starts and drives reliably their hands are clean. I think that attitude stems from their roots in building econo boxes for so many years.

This is the only reason I got rid of my Stinger.

Interested in this as well. Have the MY20 owners with some mileage comment on their NVH levels? I'm hoping Kia improved the manufacturing over time. I think this was true for the Optima. I owned the first MY 2011 anfmd it was atrocious. I heard it got better.

It's definitely more noticeable after I've lowered, the only really annoying one is the sunroof rattle. I do find tire balance/alignment/PSI have rather large impacts on tire noise.

Have a 2020. I (knock on wood) haven't had any sunroof rattle. I do have a hatch rattle that 2 dealers have said isn't covered by the TSB even though I think the TSB fix would fix it (based on my cheap testing of shoving a paper towel at the bumpers). I also do have a lot of interior creaking, like surfaces rubbing together. It seems like it coming from multiple areas. It sounds a lot like the 20 year old Mercedes I drove in high school, creaking in the interior over bumps, but my Stinger is only just over 4000 miles. It hasn't soured me on the car quite yet but it is one of my big annoyances with this car.

Guess they didnt. I think Kia still designs great vehicles but they need to work on NVH and quality.

I adjusted the sunroof and has been quite quiet in the cabin. I keep the shade closed as all sunroofs rattle. I find my civic, my Ford Edge, my last Lincoln MKZ, all of them. A panoramic roof from Ford rattle so bad I shoved rags between the glass and the frame and shut it three years ago and haven’t opened it since. It’s quiet but it’s now a feature I can’t enjoy. Stinger was the first one that I attempted to adjust by some of the methods on the site and found success. There’s always a little creaking but with the sunshade closed it’s absolutely not an issue

I put on my winter wheels/tires over the weekend and I've had a noticeable improvement in the NVH department since doing that. My winter tires are much softer and a 18" vs 19" wheel so quite a bit more give than the pilot sport combo has. It leads me to believe that my front and rear sway bars probably play a fairly large role in the increased NVH I've been noticing. The front definitely stiffened up the ride considerably and by changing out the wheels I've taken some of the harshness back out of the ride. Almost makes me want to consider a lightweight 18" wheel option as a summer wheel/tire package...

Just did the same, it's such a nice improvement to the NVH. I'm considering switching to all seasons on 18s for this exact reason.

Reading about all the squeaks, creaks, and rattles is a bummer, because they really get on my nerves. I've been spoiled by my 2010 TSX, which I've driven for 11 years and 125,000 miles, and has been rock solid despite many rough miles on the streets of Philly. In its first year, a piece of plastic trim near the moonroof controls started buzzing, which was easily fixed, but otherwise zero rattles, squeaking, etc., even in the winter. I doubt I'll get so lucky again, even with a Honda or Acura.

I do expect the refreshed Stinger will improve on these issues, and I can't wait to try the 2.5T when it's available. I hope it will roll on 18" wheels, because anything larger could be a nightmare in the city.

Had a 2011 CRV before the Stinger with over 150k miles, never had a creaking issue like I'm getting in the Stinger despite driving across the country 2x, all over the east coast in the winter including poor roads in Michigan and NY. Also a 2014 Elantra GT with 50k miles, not as well insulated but no creaks/squeaks/rattles. So that aspect of the Stinger is really disappointing. I've tried lubricating the seals of the doors but it hasn't made a difference. Might try some gaffer tape on the opposing surfaces next.

Funny enough, all the creaks, rattles, pops and cracks only happened to my Stinger during the summer when it was really hot out. Now that it’s getting cooler, it’s much more quieter in the cabin and I’m more pleased. XD

It should not matter if it's covered by TSB or not, your car is under warranty and they should fix it as such.

My 2021 is still brand new but doesn't have any rattles, creaks, or pops except for the hatch when driving over a bump that sends the rear of the car quickly up and down.

Torx 40 driver bit for the screws on the hatch bumpers, 5/16" rubber washers underneath the bumpers finally silenced it for me. 5 minutes for something I should've done months ago.
