Does anyone know how long I have to break a lease with KIA? I leased a 2022 Stinger GT-Line. The interior passenger door handle broke off the day I brought the car home. The drivers seat electronics are malfunctioning after 5 days. I was told by the service department that there are no replacement parts for this vehicle in the entire country. They are not making extra parts at this time because they are so behind on production. I need to get out of my 10 day old lease and walk away clean before this vehicle bricks....

If anything is defined by Kia, it would be in your paperwork. Anything additional in terms of consumer protection laws would be per state.

The door handle is a recent fubar, never seen in earlier Stingers: so, Kia is fixing that; it's a TSB. Electronic crap, well, that's my largest fear: so far, no troubles in over 40 months. Hopefully you don't have a lemon. But if you do, then get rid of it that way. I don't think that you can "escape" the lease without penalty otherwise.

Getting parts for vehicles manufactured out of the country is a bit of a pain right now. Your issues are minor, has the dealer offered you a loaner while they await the parts or offered any sort of remedy? Have you reached out to KIA on the Stinger VIP line for some help? My Audi e tron was at the dealer for 29 days while they awaited a part for a repair and to fix it. I got a loaner to use while my car sat. I understand how annoying this can be however, I can’t see how the vehicle will be bricked based on the issues you have.

They should be trying harder, even offering temporary used parts would be more acceptable imo. There are lemon laws as well, you bought a new car it should work 100% if it doesn't they need to fix it or get you a car that does work.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
They have no choice but to manufacture replacement parts for 10 years, which is related to the length of the warranty, not a federal law regarding parts availability specifically (so for Chrysler trash for example, Fiat only need to make parts available for 3 years). You can tell them if it isn't resolved, that they will be hearing from an attorney who will be seeking compensation in addition to the repair.

I got a recall notification and decided to go make an appointment for the service, heard the service advisor tell another customer the chip shortage is now affecting other parts. I checked out the repair area that usually have a full bay, there were 3 cars being worked on and I noticed they were loaning Subarus, tells me they were out of Audi loaners. I can only imagine how many vehicles are airing awaiting parts. After I left, I drove by the rest of the dealers to see their inventory. They have a good inventory of used cars but the new car area is low or have no cars parked there. Checked out a couple of KIA stores looking to see if they had an EV6 on display and man, they had almost no cars. Lexus had none, Jeep had a few of the new Cherokee L, but the 1 or 2 of the others. Mazda had cars and SUVs, Infiniti was out, Toyota also looked bleak, Volvo also had a lot of used but a handful of new. Oh yeah, Audi also had little new vehicles, the sales floor had used cars on display.

Things certainly are not what they used to be before the lockdown and are progressively getting worse. I’m sure dealers are feeling the pinch as well, which is why they are offering good prices to take in used cars, so they can sell at a higher price. Let’s hope this gets better sooner rather than later.
